Lennox Hotel Buenos Aires

Lennox Hotel Buenos Aires Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 57-room Lennox Hotel Buenos Aires is located in the central Congreso area, close to government offices. Quirky decorations and artwork, interesting wall patterns, and unusual color schemes make a stay here a distinct and memorable experience -- from the spacious lobby dressed in sleek shades of black, to the chic, dramatically lit private outdoor garden. All aesthetics aside, the hotel also offers top-notch comfort, luxury, and hospitality. There’s a restaurant serving international dishes using local ingredients, a free breakfast buffet with fresh fruits and hot eggs, and a spa for relaxation. And the rooms -- large and stylishly furnished like the rest of the property -- come with kitchenettes, big closets, iPod docks, and quaint dining areas.

InterContinental Buenos Aires

InterContinental Buenos Aires Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The InterContinental is a beautiful upscale hotel that attracts numerous business travelers due to its business-friendly amenities and location near government buildings. Every detail of the hotel impresses, from the open marble lobby to the pristine spa to the spacious rooms. Rooms are understated and sophisticated, featuring dark wood furniture, large marble bathrooms, and 32-inch flat-screen TVs. The hotel features a popular international restaurant and two bars, but the most noteworthy amenities are the gorgeous spa, chic indoor pool, and huge, modern fitness center; unfortunately, accessing those facilities requires an additional fee. For business travelers, there are 15 meeting rooms and a staffed business center. Though some feel that the Montserrat neighborhood is not particularly tourist-friendly (it can get eerily quiet on weekends), the InterContiental is a top-notch choice in the area.

Hotel Madero

Hotel Madero Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 197-room Hotel Madero is in the beautiful, recently developed Puerto Madero neighborhood, full of trendy bars, restaurants, boutiques, and upscale condominiums. The hotel reflects the chic, luxurious surroundings, with sleek decor (unique pieces of artwork, sophisticated color schemes) and an overall young, laid-back ambiance. Bright, spacious, and tastefully furnished, most of the rooms feature nice amenities such as private balconies, minibars, iPod docks, and work areas. Wi-Fi is available, but for a fee. The heated indoor pool is a bit small, but its rooftop location and the outside terrace provide lovely views of the area. The free breakfast buffet includes hot Argentinian specialties and pastries, and Red Resto & Lounge serves local and international dishes. One downfall, though: It’s difficult reaching other parts of Buenos Aires without a car because the hotel isn’t close to any subway stops.

Vista Sol Buenos Aires Design Hotel

Vista Sol Buenos Aires Design Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Vista Sol is a simple, modern property almost feels more like a complex of urban studio apartments than a mid-size, mid-price hotel. The standard rooms are small, but the sophisticated, minimalistic design leaves a surprising amount of useful space. The hotel has little more than a small fitness center and sauna, plus a basic restaurant, but it is clean and centrally located to tourist attractions and the city's business center. Overall it's a nice value -- in this city, it's easy to pay a lot more for a lot less.

Aspen Towers Hotel

Aspen Towers Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Aspen Towers Hotel is a 75-room boutique hotel located in downtown Buenos Aires (also known as Microcentro), nearby shopping and business districts, art galleries, movie theaters, and restaurants. Rooms are a blend of classic elegance and modern convenience, with ornate furniture, gold accents, flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi. Nice perks include the hotel's "Midnight Coffee" hours with cold breakfast from late night until early morning and a rooftop pool that offers pretty views of the city. However, the fitness center is cramped and tiny, with just a few machines.

Hotel Bys Palermo

Hotel Bys Palermo Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 57-room boutique has a modern vibe characterized by minimalist furnishings, few adornments, and a neutral color scheme punched up by pops of color. Sun-drenched rooms feel airy and bright, thanks to large windows that let in lots of natural light. Luxe touches include wet bars, large flat-screen TVs, and sleek bathrooms (featuring bidets and shower/tub combos). Outside of the guest rooms, however, everything here feels compact -- from the small fitness center to the tiny outdoor pool. The hotel's location in an upscale residential neighborhood makes for a tranquil setting, but may feel too far from the tourist sights for some guests.

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel

Ayres de Recoleta Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Ayres de Recoleta is an apartment-style hotel located in the quiet, residential Buenos Aires neighborhood of Recoleta, though the hotel itself is on a main avenue. The rooms (and two suites) are contempoary and spacious, with a modern-meets-earthy vibe, wood floors, deep soaking tubs, and fully equipped kitchens. Unfortunately, the hotel lacks a restaurant and on-site parking, but it does have a zen-like small pool. It's a solid choice for a home base, since it's near a lot of the tourist attractions -- and right near the famous Recoleta Cemetery.

Ayres De Libertad

Ayres De Libertad Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 30 apartment-style rooms in the Ayres de Libertad utilize space fantastically without sacrificing an attractive modern aesthetic. Studios offer plenty of wall storage, stocked kitchenettes, polished marble bathrooms, and balconies; some units have courtyard views, but other views are lousy. Common areas feel more cramped, with the indoor swimming pool and tiny fitness area dropped into one section of the lobby. Despite the lack of spread out common space, this sleek and modern hotel offers a convenient location in Recoleta and free breakfast is delivered to rooms each morning.

CE Hotel de Diseño

CE Hotel de Diseño Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The upscale, 28-room CE Hotel de Diseño is all about style. The common areas and rooms are designed with minimalist decor and relaxing, subdued shades of brown, green, and orange. The floor-to-ceiling windows in the rooms provide tons of natural light, and some great views of the city. The hotel is lacking in amenities -- no pool, spa, or restaurant (though there is a 24-hour free breakfast, as well as a bar/cafe in the basement), but there are plenty of options right outside. It's a good option for those who prefer design over amenities -- or location, as guests will need a car or taxi to get to many (but not all) tourist attractions.

Eurobuilding Hotel Boutique Buenos Aires

Eurobuilding Hotel Boutique Buenos Aires Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Eurobuilding Hotel Boutique is a 58-room hotel on the Avenue 9 de Julio. Communal areas have a clean, contemporary feel and stylish rooms feature light carpeting, dark wood furnishings, and burgundy accents. Stand-out amenities include adjustable beds, spacious work desks, flat-screen TVs, and separate soaking tubs and walk-in showers. This hotel offers great perks such as a free daily breakfast buffet of hot and cold items, free W-Fi, and an appealing rooftop pool and terrace with great city views. There is also a restaurant and bar near the lobby, and room service is offered until late evening hours.
