Waldorf Astoria Orlando

Waldorf Astoria Orlando Rating: 5.0 Pearls

In a town known for kitschy family-oriented resorts, the Waldorf stands out as one of the only true luxury hotels in Orlando (with the Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grand Lakes as perhaps its only real competition). The building is new as of 2009, but great pains were taken to make the design posh and classic, if perhaps with a Florida twist. Everything is top notch: The staff is extremely gracious, there's a beautiful 18-hole golf course just steps from the front door (one of the hotel's main draws), and the breakfast buffet at Oscar's is not to be missed -- to name just a few impressive details. Although families abound and the hotel is just minutes from Epcot, you won't find any traces of Mickey or Minnie here, so those seeking more Disney-centric luxury should consider Walt Disney World's Swan and Dolphin hotels.
The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes

The Ritz-Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Located about 15 minutes from both Disney and Universal Studios on the beautiful (and massive) Grande Lakes resort grounds, the Ritz-Carlton is one of the best luxury hotels in Orlando -- swanky rooms, great pools, and a giant spa. But, since it shares all its features with the virtually identical JW Marriott, it's worth comparing rates.
Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando, Autograph Collection

Grand Bohemian Hotel Orlando, Autograph Collection Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 247-room Grand Bohemian Hotel is a stylish upscale property located in Downtown Orlando, near dining and nightlife. The hotel is known for housing an extensive art collection of over 150 works, which can be found in public areas and in the art gallery. Rooms have trendy, retro-modern decor: purple velvet drapes, tall buttoned headboards, Java wood, and wonderful beds with pillow-top mattresses and down duvets. Amenities include big flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi (for a fee), well-stocked minibars, and Starbucks coffee. The hotel features a small heated outdoor pool, a boutique spa with ocean-inspired treatments, and a popular bar with live entertainment. The hotel hosts many private events, and has extensive meeting space, a large ballroom, and helpful staff that can help organize everything from a family celebration to a corporate event.
Hyatt Regency Orlando

Hyatt Regency Orlando Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Located next to the Orange County Convention Center, the Peabody's impressive array of services, beautiful interiors, and top-notch restaurants make it one of Orlando's classiest hotels. The hotel added a 32-story tower, a revamped pool complex, and a huge spa and fitness center as part of a massive expansion completed in 2010.
Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort

Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 146-room Villas of Grand Cypress Golf Resort, a luxurious Hyatt hotel, sits on 1,500 acres of landscaped grounds, including a lake and a 45-hole golf course. All rooms were completely renovated in 2013. While the resort is especially geared toward golfers and can make a great adult golf getaway, there are activities for all ages, including fishing, boating, bikes, a pool, and tennis courts. It would be a good family destination even if Disney were not right next door.
Caribe Royale Orlando

Caribe Royale Orlando Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This affordable, 1,218-room convention hotel a five-minute drive from the Walt Disney World theme parks is a great value for families on a budget. The overall decor is a little dowdy, but guests who don't need high-design get large suites, good dining variety, and features like an enormous pool and a two-story fitness center.
Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress

Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is a self-contained mega-resort situated on 1,500 acres of private grounds in the heart of Orlando's bustling theme park landscape. The 815 modern rooms have balconies overlooking the resort's pool area or Lake Buena Vista -- with views of the fireworks at Epcot and the Magic Kingdom included. Though the property is adjacent to Disney, you'll still need a car to reach it, as well as the other major theme parks, which are all within close driving distance. There are numerous activities here (from boating to biking), but the extra fees can be steep. Though the grounds cannot compare, the updated Marriott Orlando World Center Resort has cheaper rates for similar amenities in a comparable location.
Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek

Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 1,000-room Hilton is an oasis of adult calm amid frenetic child-centric Disney World -- literally, as it's actually within the gates of Disney. The ample rooms and facilities are modern, sleek, and in great condition, while features and services cater to both business and leisure needs; plus, guests get free access to all facilities at the neighboring Waldorf Astoria.
Marriott Orlando World Center Resort

Marriott Orlando World Center Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

It's the world's largest Marriott -- 2,000 rooms; a huge free-form pool and waterslide; extensive convention space; a great gym and spa; a golf course; seven restaurants. Though largely a business hotel, its location (a 5-minute shuttle from Disney) and large, very comfortable rooms, make it a solid option for families as well.
