The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas

The Ritz-Carlton, Dallas Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Ritz-Carlton Dallas is big on both style and amenities. The 218-room property is surrounded by neatly manicured hedges in a central part of Dallas, and has a sophisticated lobby with plenty of space to lounge. Rooms have traditional decor in warm colors, big, comfy beds, and generous space -- but they lack wow factor. Bathrooms have double sinks and some have a separate tub and walk-in shower. The great on-site restaurant, Fearing's, has an appealing outdoor dining pavilion. A stunning 12,000-square-foot spa and fitness center includes a full service salon, modern cardio equipment, and a relaxing outdoor pool. The fees for parking and Wi-Fi are a nuisance at a hotel of this caliber.
Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre

Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Catering to a business crowd, the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre features a large, modern lobby, a (small) 24-hour business center, and numerous meeting rooms -- one of which can accommodate up to 1,200 people. Its distance from Downtown Dallas (an 18-minute drive) accounts for the reasonable rates, and the pool is popular among families, but those looking for a hotel closer to the action may consider staying in Downtown or Uptown Dallas.
The Highland Dallas

The Highland Dallas Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 198-room property, formerly Hotel Palomar, is a stylish pick in the affluent Park Cities area, across the highway from the Southern Methodist University. Spacious, contemporary rooms come with the standard high-tech amenities (flat-screen TVs, iPod docks), plus nice perks like Nintendos and free yoga equipment. One of the hotel’s top features is its lovely outdoor infinity pool, surrounded by lounge chairs and a couple of cabanas. The property also has an American restaurant with chic, modern design, and a bright, state-of-the-art fitness center. But it's a 20-minute train ride from Downtown Dallas.
Grand Hyatt DFW

Grand Hyatt DFW Rating: 4.0 Pearls

For travelers catching an early flight, it’s hard to beat the location of this Grand Hyatt, which is right inside Terminal D of the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport. This upscale hotel is especially convenient for those flying American, as check-in and security are just outside the lobby. It’s not as close to the other terminals, and travelers still have to budget time for the shuttle, but overall it’s a pretty impressive property. Many of the nearly 300 guest rooms overlook the runway but are still quiet. There’s an upscale restaurant, a separate sushi bar, a cafe, and a spa.
Omni Dallas Hotel

Omni Dallas Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 1,001-room Omni Dallas Hotel provides four-pearl, on-site convenience for business travelers, couples, and families. Contemporary rooms and suites offer panoramic city views, TVs hidden in mirrors, and mini-fridges. There's a bridge to the Dallas Convention Center, 24-hour room service, casual cocktails and a plethora of restaurants, along with an outdoor pool and hot tub, a 24-hour gym, stylish spa, 39 meeting rooms, and a business center. In-room Wi-Fi and parking, though, come with fees for non-Omni members. Travelers might want to also consider The Grand Hyatt DFW, at the airport, which includes free valet parking.
Hilton Anatole

Hilton Anatole Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The massive upper-middle-range Hilton Anatole is located in downtown Dallas near I-35. While the hotel is in a somewhat gritty business area, its proximity to the freeway makes it easy to get about the city quickly. Keep in mind however that its location and facilities lend the venue more to business travelers than vacationers. The rooms are spacious, clean, and, like the lobby, decorated in Asian-inspired themes. An array of on-site dining and drink options are offered as well. Watch out for extra charges for everything from parking to Wi-Fi to use of the fitness center.
BEST WESTERN PLUS Dallas Hotel & Conference Center

BEST WESTERN PLUS Dallas Hotel & Conference Center Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 160-room Best Western Plus Dallas Hotel and Conference Center is a budget-friendly, mid-range business haven decorated with contemporary decor. Features include 24-hour front desk service, seven meeting rooms, a large computer center, a modern gym, an on-site restaurant, a bar with a lounge, and a market. Modern rooms have stylish furnishings, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and microwaves. The hotel is in North Dallas, which is about a 20-minute drive to downtown Dallas.
La Quinta Inn & Suites Dallas Love Field

La Quinta Inn & Suites Dallas Love Field Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 102-room La Quinta Inn & Suites Dallas Love Field offers mid-range amenities at budget rates. It's about a 15-minute drive from downtown Dallas, and about three miles from Dallas Love Field Airport. It has an outdoor pool and hot tub, a restaurant, 24-hour fitness center, laundry room, a business center, and meeting room. The modern rooms include flat-screen TVs with premium cable and HD channels, microwaves, coffeemakers, mini-fridges, and free Wi-Fi. Suites with separate living areas and sofa beds are also available. It's in an industrial location outside the city center, which means there's nothing within walking distance.
Hyatt House Dallas/Uptown

Hyatt House Dallas/Uptown Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Hyatt House Dallas is designed for those on extended stays, and features large rooms with kitchenettes and sitting areas. Though there is nothing particularly charming about the hotel (room decor is bland, and looks similar to what one may find in a dorm -- especially the striped bedspread), it does have an above-average courtyard pool area, and the freebies are endless: breakfast, Wi-Fi, a cocktail hour, and even free grocery shopping services. It's located in trendy Uptown, if a bit removed from the neighborhood's main action. Business travelers may appreciate the 24-hour access to the fitness center, business center, and convenience store.
