Origin at Seahaven

Origin at Seahaven Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Origin at Seahaven is a mid-range seaside condo resort, with 329 units spread over 17 floors. Guest rooms include kitchens or kitchenettes, flat-screen TVs, and DVD players and some have washers and dryers. Sharky's Beachfront Restaurant is across the road and there's a great outdoor pool on-site that has views of the ocean. However, there are a few problems with this property. The front desk is managed by Emerald View Resorts, not Seahaven, and Seahaven's front desk is in a separate building across the street. There are extra fees on top of the normal rates, including a room charge, a cleaning fee, a damage waiver fee, and even a booking fee. Most of the fees are due to the fact that the hotel is popular with Spring Breakers, who are known to cause damage to rooms. There have also been complaints of guests needing towels and not being able to get hold of any, as well as basic necessities like toilet paper not being replaced. The parking is free -- but the lot is often full and guests have to find space in the overflow parking lot which is further away. Travelers may wish to compare rates at the nearby Legacy by the Sea & Beachbreak, which has comparable rates, is right on the beach, and has better guest satisfaction overall.
Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach

Holiday Inn Resort Panama City Beach Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This Holiday Inn Resort has an oceanfront location in Panama City Beach. There are many amenities here geared towards families, including the large kids' play pool, a game room, and Splash the dolphin mascot running around (and for a fee, even tucking kids into bed). Rooms are fairly typical for a Holiday Inn beach hotel, with fresh bedding, and convenient extras such as full-size fridges and microwaves; the balconies featuring gulf views are perhaps the biggest draw. Beyond attracting families, this hotel also has a reputation for spring breakers. The pool is a nice size and the beach has lots of comfortable lounge chairs. While there have been some complaints about noise and thin walls, the oceanfront location and affordable rates make this hotel a good pick in Panama City Beach.
Travelodge Pensacola Beach

Travelodge Pensacola Beach Rating: 2.0 Pearls

The 99-room Travelodge Pensacola Beach is a no-frills, budget hotel on a private stretch of sand in Little Sabine Bay, across the street from a beautiful public beach. The property has an outdoor pool, a small bar, and a barbecue deck on the beach. Guest rooms have mini-fridges, microwaves, and coffeemakers, though are not always clean. Breakfast and Wi-Fi are free. Both the on-site and next-door bars tend to get rowdy, especially during spring break, making this property better-suited to partiers than families. For a quieter, more family-friendly atmosphere, guests could try Hampton Inn Pensacola Beach, which has somewhat higher rates.
