The Atlantic Resort and Spa

The Atlantic Resort and Spa Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Although there's a pool deck overlooking the ocean, a lovely spa, and cutting-edge gym, the real stand-out here is the large rooms that start at 600 square feet (and each one has a full kitchenette and spacious marble bathroom). The ground floor restaurant and lounge includes a wrap-around porch for eating al fresco, and more casual dining can be had up on the pool deck. The hotel doesn't quite match its main competitor, the Ritz-Carlton Fort Lauderdale, but it's much more affordable and prices are very reasonable considering all you get for your money.
W Fort Lauderdale

W Fort Lauderdale Rating: 4.5 Pearls

By far the sexiest of the grand dames lining Fort Lauderdale Beach, the stunning design and painstaking attention to detail here are enough to wow even the most jaded travelers; unique design elements are around every corner, like a clear staircase that takes you up through the pool. In addition, there are two pool decks, a happening scene at three bars, a steak restaurant, sleek rooms, and a Bliss Spa. However, the hotel's size means you can't count on personalized service.
Sonesta Fort Lauderdale

Sonesta Fort Lauderdale Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The all-white Sonesta Fort Lauderdale (formerly B Ocean Fort Lauderdale and not to be confused with B Ocean Resort) sits just across the street from the beach, with an austere, minimalist design -- similar to the style of a W hotel, with subtle neon lighting in the lobby come nightfall. The ocean views are the star here, but you'll also find two great restaurants and a small pool with an accompanying outdoor bar. Despite a trendy appearance, this 240-room hotel is popular with families, and it's not uncommon to see kids splashing in the pool or eating dinner in the restaurants.
The Westin Beach Resort & Spa, Fort Lauderdale

The Westin Beach Resort & Spa, Fort Lauderdale Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Right across from the beach, the Westin's strong suit is its wealth of amenities: a kids club, a Starbucks, an outdoor event space, and a well-known steakhouse, for starters. At the center of it all is a huge conference center with two ballrooms, the hotel's pride that was opened in late 2010 (which means the hotel is more focused on business travel as compared to its leisure-oriented sister down the road, Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel). The hotel re-opened in early 2010 after a major renovation that left it with a clean, modern design full of beachy accents.
Pelican Grand Beach Resort

Pelican Grand Beach Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Old Key West decor of this 156-room hotel is a welcomed changed from the modern, minimalist design that is the norm at most Fort Lauderdale hotels; instead, picture a veranda with rocking chairs, a stately porte-cochere, rattan furniture, and whirling ceiling fans. Rooms look like they're straight out of a bed and breakfast, and the hotel's location directly on the sand is a rarity in this city.
Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort

Hilton Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Directly across from the beach and right next to the hipper W Fort Lauderdale, the Hilton is a large, 374-room hotel that's busy, clean, and comfortable, if somewhat predictable. Guests will find a big pool deck overlooking the ocean (though an outdoor pool bar is conspicuously absent), an adjacent restaurant with outdoor seating, a fitness center, a spa (including some outdoor massage huts), and a cafe on the ground floor (but this is the extent of the hotel's offerings, save for some meeting rooms). It's more affordable than many of its neighbors, but beware that the smallest rooms may not have balconies or even windows that open.
Lago Mar Resort

Lago Mar Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Lago Mar Resort is an upscale 204-room hotel located on 500 feet of private beach in Fort Lauderdale. The family-friendly resort is packed with amenities like two pools, a full-service spa, a spacious gym, and multiple restaurants/bars -- including a poolside tiki-style bar. Guest rooms are decorated with slightly dated tropical prints and wood furniture; all rooms have kitchenettes, and some have balconies with ocean views. Lago Mar provides a quieter vacation away from the hustle and bustle of downtown and the bar scene. Further north on the beach and closer to downtown Fort Lauderdale, the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort & Spa has many of the same amenities for similar rates, but is more modern.
Marriott Harbor Beach Resort And Spa

Marriott Harbor Beach Resort And Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

After its $25 million makeover, this 650-room Marriott in Fort Lauderdale is great for kids -- giant pool, kids' club, big, comfortable guest rooms -- but there's still plenty for grown-ups, including yoga classes at the fitness center, an adult-only pool, and a full-service spa and salon. Just watch out for the nickel-and-diming.
B Ocean Resort Fort Lauderdale

B Ocean Resort Fort Lauderdale Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Originally the Yankee Clipper and then the Sheraton Fort Lauderdale Beach Hotel, the sleek and modern hotel became the B Ocean Resort Fort Lauderdale in 2014. Spread over four towers, the hotel boasts two pool decks, a private stretch of sand along the public beach (complete with free lounge chairs and daybeds for rent), and an outpost of the trendy Dos Caminos Mexican restaurant. The hotel's age still shows in certain places though, and the guest rooms and bathrooms are fairly standard; however, these factors make it less expensive, and it's a good value for all you're getting.
Sun Tower Hotel & Suites on the beach

Sun Tower Hotel & Suites on the beach Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 23-room Sun Tower Hotel & Suites is located directly on the beach, and almost all rooms have spectacular ocean views. The mid-range property has been renovated and has lovely lush grounds, including a small outdoor pool and an on-site restaurant with patio seating. Rates are relatively low, especially for the beach location, but guests should be aware that there's a daily resort fee for Wi-Fi, parking, and beach access.
