Mr. C Beverly Hills

Mr. C Beverly Hills Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Though the name claims Beverly Hills, the 138-room Mr. C (of the Cipriani brand) is really located in West L.A. In fairness, though, it is incredibly close to Beverly Hills and has the feel of some Beverly Hills hotels -- with large chandeliers, black-and-white Hollywood photographs, and a trendy pool scene. For those with ultra-discerning taste, the decor may better indicate what "posh" was a few years ago, but the rooms are sexy and sleek, and each has its own balcony. Those wishing for a true Beverly Hills hotel may consider staying at the Beverly Wilshire or the Thompson.
Hotel Casa Del Mar

Hotel Casa Del Mar Rating: 4.5 Pearls

A true jewel, this historic grand hotel is world-class yet refreshingly unpretentious (unless you count the Hollywood crowd at the popular lobby bar). But there is nothing modest about its spacious elegant rooms, rooftop pool, and commanding location right on the beach -- a rarity in L.A. It's one of the best luxury hotels in town.
L'Ermitage Beverly Hills

L'Ermitage Beverly Hills Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Hidden away in a quiet residential section of Beverly Hills, this 119-room hotel pampers guests with extraordinary service (including a rare, flexible checkout policy), huge 650-square-foot standard rooms, and a 24-hour rooftop pool with 360-degree views. All in all, a hotel with few equals.
Hotel Palomar Los Angeles Westwood

Hotel Palomar Los Angeles Westwood Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Just blocks from UCLA (but unfortunately close to little else), this 238-room Kimpton hotel, opened in 2008, offers big 350-square-foot standard rooms (luxuriously outfitted with 42-inch flat-screens and Frette linens), a small heated pool, free coffee and wine hours, and a no-fee pet policy.
Luxe Hotel Sunset Blvd, Bel Air

Luxe Hotel Sunset Blvd, Bel Air Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Popular for weddings and conventions, this 160-room luxury boutique hotel in Bel Air may be far removed from the action of Santa Monica and Hollywood, but it offers 522-square-foot standard rooms with free Wi-Fi and loads of extra amenities (tennis court, pool, spa, free business center) spread over an expansive seven-acre estate.
Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 300-room Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, literally an L.A. landmark, combines the shimmer of silver-screen history with a cutting-edge party scene centered around its multiple bars and massive pool. A terrific casual restaurant is open 24 hours, and service is surprisingly good. The rooms, though well designed, are smaller than average for L.A.
Hilton Checkers Los Angeles

Hilton Checkers Los Angeles Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A clean, comfortable, and historic downtown L.A. boutique that caters primarily to business travelers. It has luxurious rooms and a rooftop deck with killer views. The tasteful, private atmosphere and modern appointments compensate for smallish rooms.
Petit Ermitage

Petit Ermitage Rating: 4.0 Pearls

It's a matter of taste. The hotel's bohemianism -- think hipsters and distressed fixtures -- will appeal to some but not others. Oyster's take? We dig it, man. For half the price of some of its competitors, you get amodern, truly unique boutique with large suites (many with kitchens) and a lovely rooftop pool.
The Hotel Wilshire, a Kimpton Boutique

The Hotel Wilshire, a Kimpton Boutique Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Hotel Wilshire, a Kimpton Boutique, is a chic, 74-room business-oriented hotel located near (but not in) Beverly Hills. Rooms have a modern design and up-to-date technology, and bathrooms shine with contemporary fixtures and Lather bath products. The hotel may not have much as far features -- there's no fitness center or spa -- there is a rooftop pool area with restaurant and bar, ample lounge space, and panoramic views of downtown and the Hollywood Hills. Since its transition to a Kimpton property in 2012, the hotel has added a bevy of new extras, including a nightly wine reception, animal print robes, in-room wellness services, free Wi-Fi for Kimpton InTouch members (a program which is free to join), pet-friendly practices, and the Kimpton EarthCare program, which garnered the hotel a Silver LEED certification.
SIXTY Beverly Hills

SIXTY Beverly Hills Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Just three blocks from Rodeo Drive, this 110-room flashy Beverly Hills boutique features a guest-only rooftop pool and bar overlooking the Hollywood Hills, and high-design rooms with Italian linens, 37-inch flat-screens, and a minibar stocked with Dean and Deluca products. But Wi-Fi isn't free, and partying at Caulfield's or the rooftop bar can get pricey.
