Less stuffy than the Beverly Hills Hotel, more glam than the Beverly Hilton, this iconic Beverly Hills hotel is a top luxury pick for business or leisure, families or romance. With beautiful guest rooms, a Wolfgang Puck restaurant, and a great spa, pool and fitness center, plus doting Four Seasons service, it's hard to find fault.

With 12-acres of lush grounds, this historic hotel is a serene, luxurious escape five minutes from Rodeo Drive. Its formal service and aura lend it a stuffier feel than the Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire, but it also has anachronistic charms, like an old-fashioned soda fountain, plus a great pool and restaurants.

A true jewel, this historic grand hotel is world-class yet refreshingly unpretentious (unless you count the Hollywood crowd at the popular lobby bar). This 726-room behemoth in Century City, the commercial hub of LA's entertainment industry, has contemporary rooms with iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, and balconies (some with fantastic views). The pool is huge and the Equinox gym is the largest in L.A. -- but be prepared to pay if you want to use it. The nearby InterContinental has a less impressive -- but free -- gym, and bigger rooms.

This 569-room Beverly Hills hotel, the site of the Golden Globes, excels at affordable luxury. Two business centers and superbly fast Internet in the elegant rooms make it a top pick for business travelers. Its huge pool and name-brand fitness center ably compete with the leisure facilities at more expensive hotels, but its restaurant and bars don't.

It's no longer as hip or famous as its West Hollywood neighbors (the Chateau, Sunset Tower, and Mondrian), and the service can be spotty. But there's plenty to like about the new Andaz, which was once (in)famously known as the "Riot Hyatt": rotating art exhibits, a lovely rooftop pool, and sleek rooms with sweet views and free snacks and drinks.

This 300-room Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel, literally an L.A. landmark, combines the shimmer of silver-screen history with a cutting-edge party scene centered around its multiple bars and massive pool. A terrific casual restaurant is open 24 hours, and service is surprisingly good. The rooms, though well designed, are smaller than average for L.A.

A rejuvenated Sunset Strip landmark with just 74 rooms, the Art Deco Sunset Tower draws A-list celebrities and treats everyday guests like stars with impeccable service and a vibe that channels the glamorous history of Hollywood. Despite its small pool, the Tower is still a great value.
