Hotel Silken Puerta America

Hotel Silken Puerta America Rating: 5.0 Pearls

Hotel Silken Puerta America is known for its over-the-top design, from the colorful facade of the hotel to the rooms. Each of the 12 floors was executed by a different designer, and range from futuristic, space-like decor to sexy style with levitating beds and bold colors. This funky hotel offers free Wi-Fi and a small indoor pool. Hotel features include a hip on-site restaurant and a top floor bar with expansive views. While the location is great for business travelers -- less than 10 minutes from the airport -- leisure travelers might prefer to stay closer to the city center where famous sights are within walking distance.
Eurostars Madrid Tower

Eurostars Madrid Tower Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Eurostars Madrid Tower has sophisticated design, an upscale 30th-floor restaurant, panoramic views, and a high-end spa. Its contemporary 473 rooms feature all the amenities expected of a five-pearl property -- pillow menus, brand-name minibar items, soundproofing, and LCD TVs -- plus a few extras, including radiant heating in the bathrooms, floor-to-ceiling windows, and free Wi-Fi. Attentive service and reasonable rates don’t hurt either. But location in the city’s financial district, far from the main sights, is more convenient for business travelers than tourists.
Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa

Sheraton Madrid Mirasierra Hotel & Spa Rating: 5.0 Pearls

This 182-room, all-suite hotel caters to business travelers and families who don't want to stay in the city center. The Mirasierra is convenient to Madrid's business district and convention center, and has several large, flexible meeting rooms that can host large groups or special events. Though the neighborhood lacks dining options, the sunny lobby atrium, poolside cafes, lobby bar and Japanese/Spanish fine dining restaurant offer great alternatives.
Melia Madrid Princesa

Melia Madrid Princesa Rating: 5.0 Pearls

From the outside, the Melia Madrid looks like your average business hotel. Step inside, however, and you will be surrounded by distinctive details that give the interior spaces a modern, arty vibe, such as the funky light fixtures, sleek leather couches, and elegant antiques in the airy lobby. In addition to its unique decor, the Melia offers amenities that are a rarity at Madrid hotels, including a small fitness center, indoor pool (fees apply), and a spa (albeit closed on weekends). The real highlight, though, are the spacious rooms with flat-screen TVs, plush beds, red accents, and gorgeous marble bathrooms. The hotel attracts both business and leisure travelers, as it has a business center, event spaces, and a good location near various attractions.
Hotel Villa Real

Hotel Villa Real Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 115-room Hotel Villa Real boasts a great, central location just a few blocks from Sol and many major attractions. The hotel is a solid option for tourists -- and particularly families. Not only does it have hip restaurant that provides a kids menu, it also offer rooms with layouts convenient for families, and has numerous connecting rooms. The rooms, however, aren't as impressive as one may expect from a luxury hotel. They have eclectic style that blends modern and antique pieces, but most have two beds pushed together with thin comforters rather than duvets, and the furniture shows wear. Rooms do have flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access (the first hour is free). Hotel Villa Real also has a small on-site fitness center and business center, but those looking for a few more amenities (such as a pool and more dining options) may consider the nearby sister hotel, Hotel Urban.
InterContinental Madrid

InterContinental Madrid Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 302-room, luxurious Intercontinental Madrid was designed to mimic an 18th century palace, with enormous chandeliers, gold leaf accents, fireplaces, marble floors and inlaid wood furniture. The Intercontinental suits top executives in town on business and guests who appreciate quality and attention to detail. Visitors can enjoy fine cigars, tapas and designer cocktails in the stylish Bar 49, or a gourmet dinner or piano-accompanied Sunday brunch in the elegant El Jardin restaurant. The fitness center is top-notch, and the small spa has two treatment rooms and a sauna. The hotel is within walking distance of Calle de Serrano, home to Madrid’s most exclusive designer boutiques, but it's a long walk or 10-minute subway ride to the city center.
Hotel Unico

Hotel Unico Rating: 5.0 Pearls

A luxury boutique hotel in the well-heeled Salamanca neighborhood, the Hotel Unico is one of Madrid's most refined and exclusive stays. The unique and modern design of the hotel stands out with colorful art pieces, exquisite and one-of-a-kind marble tile, and elegant contemporary furniture. Rooms have Jatoba wood floors, high ceilings, large windows, iPod docks, and luxurious marble bathrooms -- though some get a little street noise. The hotel's restaurant, Ramon Freixa Madrid, is a local highlight, a Michelin-starred institution with an outdoor terrace in warmer months. There's also a state-of-the-art fitness center, wellness center with massages and beauty treatments, library outfitted with art books, and perks like iPads, laptops, personal trainers, and personal shoppers by request. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel, and free breakfast and parking are included in certain packages.
Hotel Ritz Madrid

Hotel Ritz Madrid Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 104-year old, 167-room Hotel Ritz Madrid is one of the city's iconic luxury properties. Originally designed to look like a palace, the hotel's high-end interiors and top-notch service have made it a popular destination for celebrities and notable names. Ideally located adjacent to Retiro Park and overlooking the Museo Prado, and within walking distance to many of the city's attractions, the Ritz suits business travelers and well-heeled tourists. But the experience definitely comes at cost.
Hotel Wellington

Hotel Wellington Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Hotel Wellington is a classically beautiful, historic hotel in Salamanca, just a short walk from the famous Retiro Park. The grand lobby has a stately vibe, with crystal chandeliers, velvet furniture, and high ceilings, and the look continues throughout the hotel -- though it's a bit simpler in the 255 rooms. Rooms have small flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi, but standard rooms are a bit small and some feature two beds pushed together -- which is common in Madrid, but not what one would expect at a luxury hotel. Like a luxury hotel, however, Hotel Wellington features a long list of amenities: a 24-hour business center, well-equipped fitness center, spa with numerous features, seasonal outdoor pool, and seven dining options, one of which is a Michelin-starred Japanese restaurant. Plus, the hotel's rich history is impressive; after all, it has hosted the likes of Gene Kelly and Ernest Hemingway.
Hotel Urban

Hotel Urban Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The boutique Hotel Urban is a luxurious hotel with a long list of features. Not only does it feature a lovely rooftop pool lined by lounge chairs, it is also home to a small fitness center, two swanky restaurants and a bar, and even a museum area of ancient antiques. The 102 rooms, however, aren't as impressive as the rest of the hotel. Sure, they're spacious and include large flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi access (the first hour is free), but the decor is relatively bland: Furniture shows some wear and tear, the beds feature shiny bronze bedspreads, and the lack of color give them a masculine-bordering-on-boring look. Nonetheless, Hotel Urban remains a solid pick, in part due to its convenient location in the heart of Madrid, within walking distance of restaurants, shops, and nearly every main sight the city has to offer.
