Welk Resort Branson

Welk Resort Branson Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Set amid the scenic Ozark Mountains just a short drive from central Branson, the Welk Resort Branson is a family-friendly, upper-mid-range resort with a wealth of fun activities and amenities. Chief among these are the exceptional indoor/outdoor water park and outdoor mini-golf course. There’s also free Wi-Fi, a game room, huge theater with musical acts, and popular on-site restaurant. Rooms are modern, if a bit boring, with features like granite countertops and mini-fridges. Note that the resort also operates a timeshare; therefore, pitches can be annoying, and the resort can get a bit loud with so many kids running around.
Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark

Hilton St. Louis at the Ballpark Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Not just any hotel in St. Louis can get away with using the word "Ballpark" in the name, but the Hilton -- with its unmatched view of Busch Stadium -- deserves the moniker. The 670-room property is divided over two towers, and thought it's older (it used to be a Marriott) it underwent renovations in 2012. Rooms have contemporary decor, flat-screen TVs, and iPod docks (though some are still undergoing renovations). tag:revisit 4/1/2013 Its numerous meeting and convention facilities on-site draw a business crowd, but the trendy rooftop bar -- boasting 360 degree views -- attracts a young and fun set, especially on game nights. Meanwhile, dining options on the main level include a mix of casual and gourmet fare. An indoor pool and fitness center are free for guests, but there are fees for Wi-Fi and valet parking.
Sheraton Westport Plaza Tower

Sheraton Westport Plaza Tower Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The Sheraton Westport Plaza Hotel is a business-friendly upper-middle-range chain hotel about a 20-minute drive from downtown St. Louis. It's attached to The Westport Plaza, a 42-acre complex of retail and office space on the outskirts of the city. The aging hotel completed a multimillion dollar renovation in 2011 and now has contemporary decor throughout. The 210 rooms are generic, with white duvets, flat-screen TVs, and coffeemakers. Guests can dine at the hotel's on-site restaurants or at casual eateries in Westport Plaza; other options will require a drive. Parking is free, but there's a fee for in-room Wi-Fi.
BEST WESTERN Center Pointe Inn

BEST WESTERN Center Pointe Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Best Western Center Pointe Inn sits in the prime entertainment area of Branson, with shops, restaurants, and attractions all within walking distance. There are an indoor pool and outdoor pool, both with hot tubs (though they have no views), in addition to a gym, business center, and game room. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel, though the signal may be an issue for some. Although there is no on-site restaurant or bar, the hotel shares a parking lot with Montana Mike’s Steakhouse and offers a free breakfast with hot and cold items. Some rooms have microwaves, mini-fridges, and jetted tubs, while others have enough space for large families. The overall decor is mundane, but fits the Best Western brand standards, and the entire hotel is extremely clean.
Lodge of the Ozarks

Lodge of the Ozarks Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Lodge of the Ozarks is a great value considering its central location in Branson, as well as its modern common areas -- the lobby and lounge are filled with beautiful wood furnishings (although rooms are noticeably more dated). Some rooms are plain and basic, with only the essentials and old TVs. Other rooms have jetted tubs, lodge-style decor, granite countertops, and mini-fridges. There is free Wi-Fi throughout the property, along with concierge services and dinner shows at the on-site Club Room theater. Additionally, the hotel has an indoor pool, fitness center, and sun deck. The hotel serves a hot breakfast for a fee.
Holiday Inn Express Branson - Green Mountain Drive

Holiday Inn Express Branson - Green Mountain Drive Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Holiday Inn Express Branson-Green Mountain Drive is a simple, modern, eco-friendly hotel located within walking distance of both downtown Branson and local attractions and restaurants. The busy street and traffic may be an issue, though. Room design features standard chain fare (with flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges), but the lobby is surprisingly attractive with artistic light fixtures and a dark wood and marble front desk. Some rooms are large with walk-in showers and jetted tubs, while others lack bathroom and counter space. There is free Wi-Fi and a free breakfast that gets good reviews, along with helpful concierge services and a 24-hour game room. The pool, hot tub, and steam room are open late and are popular with families.
Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills

Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Comfort Inn at Thousand Hills is a budget hotel just off 76 in Branson, but its modern style and cleanliness make it seem like rates would be higher than they generally are. A large, lodge-inspired lobby has lots of comfortable seating and the breakfast area is contemporary, though small and crowded on weekends. Many major sights are within walking distance, but a rental car is necessary to truly explore the area. Rooms are decorated in chain-standard style and basic colors, but they're clean and have tiled bathrooms with granite countertops. Some bathrooms are small, though, and other rooms suffer exterior noise. There's also a fitness center, indoor pool, hot tub, and sauna, as well as free Wi-Fi and an extensive, free hot breakfast.
Hotel Grand Victorian

Hotel Grand Victorian Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Hotel Grand Victorian is a clean value hotel on Branson's main road, within walking distance of attractions, shops, and restaurants. Thanks to its floral-patterned, Victorian-inspired decor, much of the hotel has a cozy feel, although bright-pink accent walls in rooms are a tad shocking. The rooms are comfortable and spacious, with extra seating space, and some have balconies and jetted tubs, but the overall design is a bit dated and worn. There are numerous amenities, though, which make Hotel Grand popular with families; they include indoor and outdoor saltwater pools, a game room, free breakfast, and 24-hour fitness and business centers. Small pets are welcome for a fee.
Still Waters Resort

Still Waters Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Set just outside Branson on Table Rock Lake, Still Waters Resort is a family-friendly, lakefront getaway with a wide range of outdoor activities, including fishing , basketball, kayaking, waterskiing, swimming, and splashing in the 15-foot waterfall. Condos and motel rooms are large, bright, and modern, with lake or pool views, while suites have fully equipped kitchenettes; note that toiletries and food (including coffee) are not provided. There's no on-site restaurant or bar at this mid-range resort, but there is an small marketplace on the grounds, and there are barbecues and picnic areas for outdoor picnics. The popular Silver Dollar City theme park is a five-minute drive away.
Seven Gables Inn

Seven Gables Inn Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The family-run Seven Gables Inn has the amenities of other area motels -- clean rooms with flat-screen TVs, free breakfast of hot and cold items, and an outdoor swimming pool. Furnishings are dated but prices are fair for the area, and the inn is centrally located just off the main 76 Country Boulevard strip. Overall, it's a good budget pick with free Wi-Fi and on-site parking adding to its value.
