The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica

The Ritz-Carlton Golf & Spa Resort, Rose Hall, Jamaica Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Attached to the Caribbean's best golf course, the Rose Hall Ritz offers traditionally top-notch food, service, facilities, bathrooms, beds...well, everything. The resort's a safe bet, but the small, rocky beach crowds in the winter and its on-site restaurants (the only food within a 15-minute drive) can cost a fortune.

Round Hill Hotel & Villas

Round Hill Hotel & Villas Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Round Hill is phenomenal. Sincere, intimate hospitality; private child care; large, beautifully designed rooms by Ralph Lauren; and breathtaking grounds (to which no photo can do justice) -- it is easily among the best resorts in Jamaica, even with a few mosquitoes and ants in the room.

Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall All-Inclusive

Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall All-Inclusive Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The best of the three Iberostar resorts in Montego Bay, this 295-room all-suite hotel is light years beyond its neighbors in terms of decor, food, and features. While some elements remain shared with the lesser Iberostar Rose Hall Beach and Iberostar Rose Hall Suites -- for instance, the spa, fitness center, casino, nightclub, and shops -- guests at Iberostar Grand Hotel Rose Hall get the pick of the litter with free access to all three resorts’ restaurants, bars, pools, and beaches. The rates might be higher, but for good reason.

Half Moon, a RockResort

Half Moon, a RockResort Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Drawing everyone from Queen Elizabeth to 50 Cent, Half Moon strives for timeless, understated luxury (even at the swim-up bar). Stretching over 400 acres (including 2 miles of beach), the 230-room resort offers attentive service, quality cuisine, and seemingly limitless activities like golfing and horseback riding.

Rose Hall Resort and Spa, a Hilton Resort

Rose Hall Resort and Spa, a Hilton Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

With modern features, professional service, and a huge on-site water park, this relaxed, beachside golf resort is more popular with somber families than rum-chugging partiers. Though the rooms are small, they feature flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, spa-quality bath products, great beds, and a powerful Wi-Fi signal -- all rare luxuries in Jamaica.

Iberostar Rose Hall Suites All-Inclusive

Iberostar Rose Hall Suites All-Inclusive Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 319-room, mid-range all-inclusive property is the second-best, and family-friendliest, of the three Iberostar resorts on Montego Bay’ northern shore. The rooms are large enough to share with the kids, and the resort offers an awesome kids' club with a water park, as well as a lazy river and an activities pool. Numerous features range from an expansive spa and Pilates studio to a casino and nightclub. All-inclusive rates cover meals and drinks at the property's six restaurants and six bars -- but the reservation process for the a la carte dining options is a pain.

Iberostar Rose Hall Beach

Iberostar Rose Hall Beach Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The least expensive of Montego Bay’s Iberostar trio, this upbeat, and at times rowdy, all-inclusive megaresort features tons of amenities -- four restaurants, four bars, water sports, a spa, a theater, a casino, a nightclub, and an awesome kids' club -- all for seriously affordable rates. The rooms may be small, the decor may be outdated, and the grounds may be packed to the brim at times, but it's one of the best values on the island.

Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort And Spa

Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort And Spa Rating: 3.5 Pearls

A mega-resort, the Grand Palladium feels like a shopping mall but is expansive enough for privacy, romance, and fun. It has five pools, large rooms, name-brand liquor, tasty breakfasts, mini-golf, and more--all for lower rates than lesser-equipped all-inclusives. But its remote locale comes with rocky, man-made beaches.

Riu Montego Bay - All Inclusive

Riu Montego Bay - All Inclusive Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Opened in September 2008, the Riu all-inclusive mega-resort provides ample and eclectic food, name-brand liquor, a great beach, a 24-hour sports bar, a huge pool, a modern gym, a free liquor-stocked minibar, and an array of water sports. But guests can feel pretty anonymous in the crowded 681-room property.

Sunset Beach Resort & Spa

Sunset Beach Resort & Spa Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The all-inclusive, 430-room Sunset, which features a kids' club and an impressive water park, could be a decent family destination -- were it not for the decidedly adult drinking contests, nude beach, and late-night parties. This barely mid-range property is dated, and room amenities are scarce, inconsistent and cheap, but it’s an acceptable budget option for those who need little more than a bed and a nice beach. The Sunset Tower was renovated in 2011, and rooms have upgraded amenities, including flat-screen TVs, newer bathrooms, and nicer decor.
