Rockhouse Hotel

Rockhouse Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The lush, laid-back Rockhouse creates a holistic haven -- gourmet dining, morning yoga, cliffside loungers, a premium spa, no kids under 12, and beautiful eco-appropriate design. But most astounding are the reasonable rates. (The slightly chicer Caves costs about three times more.)
Travellers Beach Resort

Travellers Beach Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Family-owned since it was built in 1993, Travellers Beach Resort is a centrally located property on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach, a short walk from restaurants, bars, and shops. An affordable mid-range option for groups, families, and couples, the resort features a big outdoor pool with swim-up bar, casual beachside restaurant, and a number of activities. Rooms are simple and clean with some modern touches (some rooms feel dated, but the hotel is in the process of renovating many of its older rooms). Personal, warm service from hands-on owners is often noted by satisfied guests.
Samsara Cliff Resort & Spa

Samsara Cliff Resort & Spa Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Located in a prime spot on Negril’s West End Road, this 50-room resort has an impressive offering of features for this budget-friendly price: two pools, an expansive waterfront, a breezy spa, two restaurants, and a PADI dive center. Though the rooms are bland and basic, with air conditioning provided only at an extra cost, the grounds themselves are beautifully maintained with plenty of flora and exceptional oceanfront vistas. Rates are extremely low for this area, and an all-inclusive option attempts to give guests an even better deal. Still, it may not prove to be the best option, given the number of restaurants and bars a short distance away.
Merrils Beach Resort II

Merrils Beach Resort II Rating: 3.0 Pearls

A basic, comfortable hotel in a prime location, the 44-room Merrils Beach Resort II is located on Negril’s Seven Mile Beach, tucked between a number of other hotels and restaurants. With easy access to both the beach and other attractions around Negril, this budget hotel is perfect for guests that want to explore. There is a nice outdoor pool surrounded by loungers and a small stage for a range of entertainment. And with several types of all-inclusive options, there are plenty of choices for dining either on or off the property.
Legends Beach Resort

Legends Beach Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 50-room beach resort has two pools, an open-air restaurant and bar, and a coveted spot at the tip of Negril’s Seven Mile Beach. Though its pools are standard rectangles, the competing Negril Tree House only has one pool (albeit one with ocean views.) Legends Beach Resort guests can also take free daily shuttles to the property’s sister resort, Samsara Cliff Resort & Spa, for access to a spa, two more pools, a stunning cliff-top sundeck, and one of the area’s best restaurants. The rooms may be basic, but the price is right for what you get.
Firefly Beach Cottages

Firefly Beach Cottages Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 22-unit beach hotel oozes Jamaican authenticity, with colorful and flower-filled grounds, an action-packed beachfront setting, and a friendly local staff. Make no mistake, this is not a luxury resort -- there is no pool, spa, or proper fitness center, and modern comforts such as air-conditioning and TVs are largely missing. But those in search of a genuine experience at low rates should be pleased.
Seasplash Negril

Seasplash Negril Rating: 3.0 Pearls

At around 15 rooms, the Seasplash is one of Negril's smaller boutiques. With its gorgeous garden grounds, location on Seven Mile Beach, and a once-popular 3-diamond restaurant, its easy to see the potential. Unfortunately, the reality is a fairly worn-down property (although there are some nicer loft suites) with a slightly abandoned vibe -- especially at night. If management gave the pool a skim, scrubbed the hot tub, threw a few more loungers down at the beach, and beefed up security it could make this a workable option for budget-focused families.
Merrils Beach Resort I

Merrils Beach Resort I Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Merrils I is a 54-room all-inclusive budget beach boutique located on the Seven Mile Beach strip of Negril's Norman Manley Boulevard. The rooms here are basic but adequate, and guests wishing for more space can opt for upgrades to suites. One of three shared properties, Merrils I is home to its own buffet restaurant, small bar, dedicated beach space, and beachside gift shop with a nice selection of goods (there is a small pool at Merrils II). A relaxed "vacation" vibe and mostly European tourists occupy the busy resort, although anyone looking for a no-frills value vacation should be happy here.
Negril Tree House Resort

Negril Tree House Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

With a central location on beautiful Seven Mile Beach, a pool and whirlpool, and clean, comfortable rooms, the Negril Tree House Resort is a great budget option for families, couples, and groups. A good-sized buffet breakfast is included, and the hotel also features a beach bar and grill with freshly-made jerk chicken, as well as room service. While the resort is small and has fewer amenities than some of the other properties on the beach, its proximity to other activities and restaurants provides guests with plenty of nearby options. Massages on the beach can be arranged and yoga classes are available. The beachfront restaurant and bar occasionally host live music, and though the scene is lively, it's not out-of-control spring break style.
Rondel Village

Rondel Village Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Located along Negril's Seven Mile Beach, 56-room Rondel Village is a dual-section property within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. Each section has its own pool and hot tub and has full access to the (small) beach area, restaurant and bar, and spa. Lush garden grounds give an exclusive tropical vibe, but the hotel's multiple expansions have led to snug quarters and an overall lack of privacy. Still, this mid-range's clean and spacious rooms are bright, come with private balconies and flat-screen TVs, and are tough to beat for the price.
