The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans

The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans is housed in the 1908 Beaux-Arts Maison Blanche building on Canal Street, the dividing line between the French Quarter and the Central Business District. Geared toward luxury travelers, the hotel maintains the regal atmosphere for which the Ritz-Carlton brand is known. With big, elegant rooms, a farm-to-table restaurant, a hopping bar, and the largest spa in the city, there's plenty to do on the premises, and its location makes it convenient for tourists and business travelers alike. Note that Wi-Fi costs extra.
Windsor Court Hotel

Windsor Court Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Celebrities, royals, and discerning travelers choose the Windsor Court for its classic style, attentive staff, and big rooms. While there’s plenty to do on the property -- including afternoon tea, a tour of the hotel’s impressive art collection, or a treatment at the lovely spa -- the Windsor Court is quietly located near all the French Quarter action. The rooms are sweet and cheerful, with classic English-style decor and upscale amenities that include free Wi-Fi, iPod docks, Molton Brown toiletries, and Keurig coffeemakers.
Hyatt French Quarter New Orleans

Hyatt French Quarter New Orleans Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 254-room upscale property located adjacent to Bourbon Street seamlessly blends the historic and contemporary. The fresh rooms are stocked with modern amenities, such as flat-screen TVs, iPod docking stations, and Wi-Fi (for a fee) -- but have unique NOLA charm thanks to high ceilings and wrought iron balconies (in most). There is a lovely pool with a poolside bar and multiple interior courtyards, as well as a nicely stocked 24-hour fitness center, and numerous meeting spaces. Three on-site restaurants, including a Hard Rock Cafe, as well as an upscale bar called Batch (which ages its own bourbon/whiskey and serves it in mini-barrel casks at your table) make this hotel a great choice for those in town for business or pleasure. However, those with pets in tow must stay elsewhere.
Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel

Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel is a modern, upscale chain hotel with an artsy feel. The 200-plus rooms are adorned with modern art, as are the common spaces, celebrating the Marriott-run property's Warehouse Arts District location. The hotel also has an indoor sculpture garden and an art gallery. With a pool, a gym, a business center, and a convenient location near plenty of museums, restaurants, and the New Orleans's convention center, the hotel is equipped for business and leisure travelers alike. Legacy Kitchen and Coffee & Beignet are opening at the hotel in March 2015. Note that there's a fee for Wi-Fi in rooms, and the French Quarter is about a 20-minute walk away.
Le Pavillon Hotel

Le Pavillon Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upscale, mid-sized hotel in the Central Business District (CBD) drips with opulence, from the chandeliers to the marble floors in the entranceway to the large oil paintings. Decor throughout is of a classic style, but some rooms could use a refresh, and those on lower floors can be noisy. Standard Rooms can be quite small. There's a lovely rooftop pool with views of the city and nightly peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in the lobby.
The Westin New Orleans Canal Place

The Westin New Orleans Canal Place Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This luxurious chain hotel in downtown New Orleans differentiates itself from other area properties with its sky high location -- the hotel is built on a mall and parking garage. The lobby starts on the 11th floor and rooms ascend above that, so the views of the Mississippi River and surrounding NOLA are spectacular, and the extra height means that there is very little exterior noise. The rooms themselves are spacious but rather nondescript, and a bit dated for the price. All of the requisite amenities for a comfortable stay are, however, present: flat-screen TV, quality bedding, free Wi-Fi,and in-room coffeemaker. The well-stocked fitness facility, 24-hour room service, business center, and meeting spaces also make this hotel a good choice for business travelers. The location on the edge of the French Quarter means quick access to Bourbon Street but none of the obnoxious all-night revelry.
International House Hotel

International House Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Trendsetters and celebs stay at the International House Hotel for its quietly sexy vibe, attentive staff, and posh rooms designed by a top L.A. designer. At night, the hotel’s Loa Bar (just off the rose-scented lobby) serves fancy libations by candlelight. The rates here are surprisingly fair, and the Central Business District location is within walking distance of the French Quarter.
InterContinental New Orleans

InterContinental New Orleans Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A slate of business amenities, like an Executive Club Lounge, courier service, and on-site foreign currency exchange, make this Central Business District chain hotel popular with corporate travelers. But the business center is small and rooms have dated, generic decor. Still, the hotel's rooms are often less expensive than local competitors', and the InterContinental’s place on the St. Charles line means that you’ll feel the intermittent rumbling of the streetcar, a true New Orleans experience. During Mardi Gras, that proximity is priceless.
Omni Royal Orleans Hotel

Omni Royal Orleans Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Omni Royal Orleans is an upscale business hotel housed in a historic building in the French Quarter. It offers 345 elegant (if small) rooms featuring solid amenities, including flat-screen TVs with LodgeNet system, iPod docks, and stocked minibars. Property highlights include a renowned restaurant, a heated saltwater rooftop pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. But there’s a fee for in-room Wi-Fi (free for Omni’s loyalty program guests) as well as for valet parking.
Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans

Royal Sonesta Hotel New Orleans Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Royal Sonesta is Bourbon Street’s swankiest hotel, and guests can customize it to their level of party pleasure. Low-key travelers should ask for a hushed interior room deep in the property, while those who want a certain New Orleans experience can take a balcony room and watch an eclectic parade of people go by at all hours. Live jazz and a hopping pool scene add appeal for weary business people who can’t wait to break out of their meetings.
