Hotel Pershing Hall

Hotel Pershing Hall Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Hotel Pershing Hall is located in the heart of the Golden Triangle. This beautiful 18th century building is home to the trendy Restaurant Pershing and a popular lounge. An indoor courtyard with retractable roof and vertical garden is a highlight here, along with a small fitness center and spa. While there are some great freebies -- including breakfast, Wi-Fi, and bottled water -- rooms at the lower floors experience significant noise from the bar and lounge downstairs. Rooms are stylish and sleek, and bathrooms have walk-in showers (some have soaking tubs), but some guests complain that the price point is high for the quality of rooms and service.
Hôtel Du Triangle d'Or

Hôtel Du Triangle d'Or Rating: 3.5 Pearls

This boutique hotel draws music lovers seeking a good value in a central location. The rooms are colorful and music-themed, with record albums used as art, and guitar paintings hung on the walls. The hotel is aptly located next to the Olympia music hall in the 9th arrondissement, making it a great spot to crash after attending a performance. The funky yellow hands adorning the entrance doors will alert guests that this is no ordinary hotel, and small touches will continue to surprise within. Near the front desk there is a multimedia area with headphones where guests can listen to CDs, and rooms have high-tech audio equipment and iPod docks. The communal areas are fun to wander -- check out the carpets decorated with stars, the sequined elevator, and silhouettes on the walls. The hotel serves breakfast for a fee, and has an area for drinks and snacks, but no real restaurant for meals. There is, however, a spa offering Turkish baths and massages.
My Hotel in France le Marais

My Hotel in France le Marais Rating: 2.5 Pearls

A 38-room value hotel, My Hotel in France Le Marais is popular for its chic Marais location and reasonable rates in a high-priced city. Renovated in 2009, the hotel retains a few nice rustic touches -- wood-beamed ceilings in the lobby and breakfast room, and an exposed stone wall -- behind its utilitarian glass-door entrance. It has an elevator -- albeit a tiny one -- which is not always a given in small Paris budget hotels. There's a TV lounge and reading room, bar service, free Wi-Fi, and satellite TV, but no air-conditioning in the rooms. Visitors might want to also check out the 25-room Hotel Castex, which is about a 15-minute walk from My Hotel and closer to the Place de la Bastille -- it has larger rooms, a business center, air-conditioning, and, surprisingly, lower rates.
Le Village Hostel

Le Village Hostel Rating: 2.0 Pearls

Le Village is a budget-friendly property located in the heart of Montmartre, blocks from the metro and the Sacré Coeur. It offers all the basics of a backpackers hostel -- including both private rooms and dorms with bunk beds, competitive prices, and a lively bar open late. There are a few nice perks, as well, including free breakfast, a fully-equipped kitchen, and a small terrace with Sacré Coeur views. It is a decent pick for young travelers on a budget, but cleanliness seems to be a problem sometimes, and the only lockers available are in the lobby.
