Sundial Lodge at Canyons Resort

Sundial Lodge at Canyons Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A nice choice for families, the Sundial Lodge features rooms and one- to two-bedroom suites with mini-fridges, microwaves, and toasters. Though the somewhat drab lodgelike decor can't compare to that in the more ultra-luxe sister Canyons' hotels, like the Waldorf Astoria, the rooms are large yet cozy, with warm colors and wooden accents (and many rooms have fireplaces). A small heated pool, a rooftop Jacuzzi and a basic fitness center are popular amenities, but those looking for a ski-in/ski-out location may consider the comparable Grand Summit.
Silver King Hotel

Silver King Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

This mid-range option in the expensive resort town of Park City features suites and condos, each with a kitchen, laundry facilities, a flat-screen TV, and a fireplace. Because condos are privately owned, the decor and quality of the kitchen appliances varies from room to room, but many have kitschy decor (for example, this western-themed bedspread). The indoor/outdoor pool and game room are nice for families, but concierge service is available only during the winter; be prepared to make your own arrangements during the off-season.
The Caledonian

The Caledonian Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The highlight of The Caledonian, featuring 1, 2, and 3-bedroom condos, is its location -- right on Main Street, lined with restaurants and shops, and a short walk to ski-in/ski-out access. The decor in each condo is slightly different (though most feature mountain lodge-inspired accents like leather sofas and wildlife-themed paintings -- nice, but nothing special). All condos feature large living areas, full kitchens, and washer/dryers -- and many have gorgeous views, fireplaces, and private Jacuzzis. The on-site restaurant is convenient for those exhausted after a long day on the slopes, but with so many great restaurants along Main Street, guests may want to explore other options.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Park City

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Park City Rating: 3.0 Pearls

A short drive from Park City, this three pearl Holiday Inn Express offers good, basic accommodations with a few nice extras, including a pool, hot tub, and sauna. Prices are reasonable, though they may spike in peak season. Rooms are plain and comfortable, and some have kitchenettes. The hotel is situated within walking distance of a mall that has plenty of shops, restaurants, and a supermarket, but getting to the slopes requires a 10-minute drive or ride on the hotel's free shuttle.
The Yarrow Hotel and Conference Center

The Yarrow Hotel and Conference Center Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 181-room, mid-range hotel is one of the more affordable in Park City. Though it is a drive from the slopes, a free shuttle bus stops right in front of the hotel, and free parking and Wi-Fi add value. Rooms are large, with empty mini-fridges and flat-screen TVs, but the decor is pretty bland (beige curtains and furniture). Features are few: an outdoor pool and Jacuzzi; small, dated fitness center; the unexceptional Mountain Grill; and a casual bar with little ambiance. Those looking to be closer to the slopes may consider the nearby Silver King Hotel.
Crestview Condominiums

Crestview Condominiums Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Crestview Condominiums is a solid value pick, located next to the Tanger Outlet Center and with easy access to Interstate 80. The complex has 17 one-, two-, and three-bedroom units with well-equipped kitchens, gas fireplaces, balconies, washers and dryers, and flat-screen TVs in the living room (but usually tube TVs in the bedrooms). Amenities include a small fitness center, an outdoor heated pool, and covered parking. The scenery here is beautiful, but it's necessary to drive to get to the slopes.
Park City Peaks Hotel

Park City Peaks Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 131-room Park City Peaks is a budget hotel just a short drive from the slopes in Park City. Rooms have comfy beds and typical chain hotel decor in several shades of beige. The hotel lacks amenities like a fitness center and a spa, but the indoor/outdoor pool and Jacuzzi have mountain views, there is free parking and a free ski valet, and the on-site restaurant and sports bar are convenient spots for a quick bite before hitting the slopes. The numerous freebies -- free breakfast, a free shuttle, and even free hot chocolate delivery -- add value, though some are available only in winter.
April Inn on Main

April Inn on Main Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The April Inn is a great budget option with an even better location in an often very expensive ski town. Located on Main Street, within walking distance of restaurants, bars, and the slopes, the Inn features one and two-bedroom condos complete with living rooms and fully equipped kitchenettes. Rooms are bland -- they are decorated with typical "mountain-esque" plaids and scenes of snowy slopes -- but with the affordable rates and perks such as free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs and DVD players, and gas fireplaces, it's easy to forgive. Aside from on-site laundry facilities, the hotel has no other amenities -- even parking isn't on the property. Still, the April Inn is a solid budget choice for those who care most about "location, location, location" -- and plan on making some meals in.
