Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia

Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia Rating: 5.0 Pearls

This luxury hotel won't surprise anyone used to the elegance of a Four Seasons -- opulent decor, outstanding service, and a central location make it popular for business guests with an expense account, as well as leisure guests looking to stay in the lap of luxury. Meanwhile, locals are attracted to the top-rated Fountain Restaurant (reservations are necessary). There are 364 rooms in total, including 96 suites -- many with balconies overlooking Logan Square. Amenities include everything from wedding and business space, a fitness center, a pool, and a spa. The only disappointment here is the fee for Wi-Fi, which should be included in the room rate for such a high-end hotel.
The Rittenhouse

The Rittenhouse Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This 116-room luxury property has a prime location in the downtown area of Center City overlooking Rittenhouse Square. Its spacious rooms and suites have traditional furniture and modern amenities like iPod docks, though not all rooms have coffeemakers. The indoor pool and gorgeous spa are highlights, and the latter features a salon and sauna. The renowned fine dining at Lacroix, and afternoon tea at the Mary Cassatt Tea Room, are popular among guests. Although valet parking is pricey and breakfast isn't free, the hotel is among Philadelphia's most luxurious options. For a luxury property near tourist attractions, only the Four Seasons Hotel Philadelphia can compete.
Hotel Monaco Philadelphia

Hotel Monaco Philadelphia Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Hotel Monaco's unique design featuring bright decor and stylishly mismatched furniture sets the hotel apart. Attractive rooms with high-end amenities, wonderful freebies, a beautiful rooftop bar, and a great restaurant all help round out the experience. Plus, the hotel’s location across the street from the Independence National Historic Park is convenient for business and leisure travelers alike.
Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing

Hyatt Regency Philadelphia at Penn's Landing Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Hyatt Regency is an upper-middle-range hotel located on the waterfront, within walking distance of the Old City’s historic areas. Its extensive meeting space, on-site restaurant and contemporary rooms make it a solid pick for business travelers. But features such as an indoor pool, free use of cribs, a family-friendly program, and a location adjacent to the Independence Seaport Museum draw travelers with kids as well.
Hotel Palomar Philadelphia

Hotel Palomar Philadelphia Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 230-room Palomar near Rittenhouse Square Park is one of the city's chicest boutiques, with bold, sleek style, excellent service, and contemporary rooms with plush, comfortable beds. The Palomar delivers the Kimpton chain's typical thoughtful extras -- an open-arms pet policy, a hopping nightly wine hour, free morning coffee and tea -- and the location on South 17th street is near some of the city's best restaurants, bars, and shopping. In Philadelphia, only Le Meridien offers a comparable boutique experience.
Philadelphia Marriott Downtown

Philadelphia Marriott Downtown Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The colossal Philadelphia Marriott Downtown takes up an entire block near City Hall. The convenient, centrally located hotel is connected via skywalk to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and offers a total of 1332 rooms and 76 suites along with newly renovated meeting spaces. Rooms are contemporary with flat-screen TVs, large desks with ergonomic chairs, and fluffy duvets -- but there is a pesky daily fee for Wi-Fi. Additional hotel perks include an indoor pool and modern fitness center. The spacious lobby has a Starbucks, laptop-friendly seating areas, and one main restaurant, called 13. While there are steep prices for parking and on-site restaurant options are limited for a hotel of this size, a central location is excellent for walking to nearby restaurants and historical attractions.
Homewood Suites Philadelphia

Homewood Suites Philadelphia Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Primarily positioned as a business-oriented hotel, the mid-range, 122-room Homewood Suites eschews swankiness for usefulness. The hotel offers many of the amenities one might require while on a road or extended business trip, including room to work, room to work out, and a hot meal -- in or outside of one's room. What it's missing is flash, modernism, and a bit of charm. The out-of-the-way location isn't near much besides a medical school, Saint Joseph's University, and Fairmount Park, though prices here are typically cheaper than at more central hotels. The big suites with kitchenettes and sofa beds on offer will appeal to business travelers and budget-minded families alike. However, those who prefer a Center City location may also want to consider the Four Points by Sheraton Philadelphia City Center, which sometimes doesn't cost much more.
