Mokara Hotel & Spa

Mokara Hotel & Spa Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 99-room Mokara is one of San Antonio’s most stylish hotels, featuring swanky amenities that include a beautiful rooftop pool, a premium spa, and fine dining -- all in a prime location right on the River Walk. The rooms at this luxury boutique are bright and sophisticated, though some have much better views than others and most lack flat-screen TVs.
Emily Morgan Hotel

Emily Morgan Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Housed in a historic neo-Gothic building with a reputation for paranormal activity, this 177-room boutique has a prime downtown location across from the Alamo and within walking distance of the River Walk entertainment district and Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. Rooms at this pet-friendly, non-smoking property have recently been renovated and feature leather ottomans and comfortable couches.
Hyatt Regency San Antonio

Hyatt Regency San Antonio Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Though noticeably older than its Grand Hyatt counterpart, this 632-room luxury hotel features a prime location right on the River Walk in the heart of Downtown San Antonio. Its 16-story atrium lobby offers striking views of the surrounding city and the rushing water below. Rooms are comfortable and stylishly furnished, but privacy and noise levels vary.
The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio

The Westin Riverwalk, San Antonio Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Westin Riverwalk enjoys a quiet location on a secluded stretch of San Antonio’s famed waterway, which is a nice change of pace from the hectic, touristy parts of the River Walk. Although it has almost 500 guest rooms, it feels far from a mega-chain hotel thanks to its elegant, traditional decor, and intimate seating areas throughout the stately lobby and terrace overlooking the river. Standard guest rooms are a bit less-than-stately, though, but they do feature comfortable and pretty antique-style furnishings, and beautiful bathrooms with separate two-headed walk-in shower and soaking tubs. There's also a lovely (though small) rooftop pool surrounded by plantings and ample lounge seating (a perk when the pool bar is open).
Omni La Mansion Del Rio

Omni La Mansion Del Rio Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Spanish Colonial architecture of the Omni La Mansion del Rio gives the upscale hotel a relaxed hacienda feel. The vibe is carried on in one of the city's best hotel restaurants, Las Canarias, as well as mariachi performances at the comfortable and lively heated outdoor pool. Some guests may miss the presence of an on-site spa and fitness center, but these are found just across the River Walk, within five minutes’ walking distance, at its sister hotel, the Mokara Hotel & Spa.
Hotel Valencia Riverwalk

Hotel Valencia Riverwalk Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Hotel Valencia offers chic sophistication in the heart of downtown, along with comfortable, modern rooms and some nice views of the River Walk -- though you'll have to do without some amenities many would consider vital in sweltering San Antonio, such as a pool. It's also a property best suited for adults with a dining- and night-life-centric agenda, or high-end business travelers -- thanks to its modern meeting rooms, and the fact that the River Walk-side restaurant and bar are among the most popular in the city. For a slight upgrade in price, though, nearby Hotel Contessa offers a sleek rooftop pool, excellent fitness center, and lovely day spa.
Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch

Hyatt Wild Oak Ranch Rating: 3.5 Pearls

An upper-middle-range property in beautiful Texas Hill Country, the Hyatt Ranch takes full advantage of its location with 39 acres of grounds dotted with nature trails, fire pits, a movie pavilion, and a slew of on-site amenities. While some features are located at the four-pearl sister property a short drive away, guests choose the Ranch to save some cash while still getting access to the other resort. On-site activities at this hotel, however, are still plentiful (a kids' camp, fitness classes, mini-golf) and families appreciate the large, apartment-style rooms.
Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo

Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Housed in a 100-year-old bank office building, the 98-room Hotel Indigo San Antonio at the Alamo manages to preserve its historic originality while offering modern amenities and decor. Its prime location -- right next to the Alamo -- makes it a great mid-range pick for people who prefer the uniqueness of a boutique hotel.
Comfort Suites Alamo/Riverwalk

Comfort Suites Alamo/Riverwalk Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The two-and-a-half pearl Comfort Suites Alamo/Riverwalk is a good budget option for families and couples with cars who don't mind driving to nearby attractions. The Riverwalk may be only three blocks, but it takes about eight minutes of walking through a gritty neighborhood to get to the far end, opposite of where the prettiest parts are located. There's a shuttle to the River Walk, but no return service. Free Wi-Fi, a free hot breakfast, and outdoor swimming pool are great perks for this price point, but expect to pay for parking. Management offers a midweek wine and cheese reception. There's a fitness center and small putting green. Rooms are nicely sized and include small kitchenettes and bathtub/shower combinations.
