Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi

Rosewood Inn of the Anasazi Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The luxurious Rosewood Inn, which underwent a major renovation in 2008, is one of Santa Fe’s most desirable hotels. It has an ideal location right by the Santa Fe Plaza, the city's cultural center. Big rooms have charming Southwestern style, with wood floors, beamed ceilings, kiva-style fireplaces, and lots of Native American and regional artwork. The Anasazi Restaurant is one of Santa Fe’s best, and serves Southwestern-influenced American cuisine using fresh, local ingredients. There's no pool or fitness center, though, so those who want more amenities may consider the nearby Inn and Spa at Loretto.
Inn and Spa at Loretto

Inn and Spa at Loretto Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upscale property has a long-standing reputation as one of the finer inns in Santa Fe. A historic chapel adjoins the hotel, the location by the Plaza can't be beat, and the decor is classic southwestern. Highlights include the stylish Luminaria Restaurant that is renowned for its fresh, organic cuisine, and The Spa at Loretto, popular for its varied array of treatments. Rooms have a warm, earthy feel and offer high-tech amenities such as flat-screen TVs and iPod docks, but some are on the small side.
Eldorado Hotel & Spa

Eldorado Hotel & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The business-friendly four-pearl Eldorado offers the convenience of being just two blocks from the Plaza, plus some great features such as a fine dining restaurant, a top-notch spa, and some of the largest business facilities in town. But while the Southwestern-themed rooms are attractive and clean, they are showing some wear.
La Fonda on the Plaza

La Fonda on the Plaza Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A Santa Fe landmark and the city's oldest hotel, La Fonda on the Plaza offers a classic New Mexican experience in a distinctive pueblo-style building filled with Native American and Southwestern art. The hotel's wealth of amenities include a year-round outdoor pool, full-service spa, boutique shops, and fine-dining restaurant. An additional perk: All of the top local attractions are within walking distance. While La Fonda rates are higher than comparable properties farther from the city center, a stay here is ideal for tourists who want a slice of vintage New Mexico and a choice location in the heart of Santa Fe.
Homewood Suites Santa Fe

Homewood Suites Santa Fe Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This Homewood is about 15 miles outside of Santa Fe, next to the Buffalo Thunder Casino and the Towa Golf Course. It's a good value for travelers who don’t mind being removed from the city, as well as those who like to gamble. There are large, apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes, including two-bedroom suites with sleeper sofas, and rates include a free hot breakfast and free dinner and drinks on weeknights. There's also a small outdoor pool and plenty of space for meetings. Those looking to be closer to the city may want to look into staying at the Santa Fe Motel and Inn .
DoubleTree by Hilton Santa Fe

DoubleTree by Hilton Santa Fe Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The mid-range DoubleTree Santa Fe is located among several other chain hotels along the Cerrillos Road strip, about six miles from the Plaza. The Holiday Inn delivers all the budget traveler staples: free parking, free Wi-Fi, and rooms with microwaves. There's a Jacuzzi and a heated indoor/outdoor pool as well, though some may find its layout awkward for swimming. The chain-like rooms are bright and clean, with comfortable beds. The Santa Fe Sage Inn has similar prices and a location closer to the Plaza, but lacks the Jacuzzi and microwaves.
Old Santa Fe Inn

Old Santa Fe Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Old Santa Fe Inn is a mid-range property with an upscale feel, thanks to perks such as a free breakfast burrito bar, afternoon cookies, and Starbucks coffee. Rooms look clean and fresh, with earthy color schemes and rustic wood furnishings that make for an authentic Santa Fe vibe. The property's prime location is another draw, as it stands just three blocks from the Plaza. Even though it's among the most reasonably priced hotels in the downtown area, the Old Santa Fe Inn exudes the charm and regional spirit of its more expensive -- and historic -- competitors.
Villas de Santa Fe

Villas de Santa Fe Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The mid-range Villas de Santa Fe may be one of the best values in town. The all-suite condos are large, clean, and have the latest tech features, as well as kitchenettes with Cuisinart appliances. A free shuttle is offered within three miles, which helps avoid the headache of parking at the Plaza (which is five blocks away). But the pool area isn't big -- and there is no restaurant at the hotel.
Santa Fe Sage Inn

Santa Fe Sage Inn Rating: 2.5 Pearls

This 156-room budget property, located across from a popular shopping center and a short drive from Santa Fe Plaza, is one of the most affordable hotels in its location. The property has motel-style layout, with exterior entrances to the rooms and a parking lot in front of the building. The hotel does offer a free shuttle, so it’s possible to leave the car behind while exploring. There's a small outdoor pool on the property, as well as a laundry room and a meeting room. Rooms are small, with basic but pleasant Southwestern-style decor and tube TVs (though some do have flat-screens). Rooms at the Best Western Plus Inn of Santa are larger and have fresher decor, but the Best Western's location is farther from the Plaza.
Holiday Inn Express Hotel Santa Fe Cerrillos

Holiday Inn Express Hotel Santa Fe Cerrillos Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The mid-range, 76-room Holiday Inn Express Santa Fe Cerrillos is located alongside several other chain hotels on the “hotel row” on Cerrillos Road, six miles from Santa Fe Plaza. The hotel is a pretty standard mid-range chain, with a bevy of freebies including free parking, Wi-Fi, and a hot breakfast. The rooms are clean but unexceptional, with bland corporate-style furnishings and in most, old tube TVs. It's worth considering the similarly priced Santa Fe Sage Inn, which offers comparable amenities and rooms (though no microwaves), but has a location closer to the Plaza.
