Four Seasons Hotel Seattle

Four Seasons Hotel Seattle Rating: 5.0 Pearls

It’s hard to go wrong with this top luxury hotel that has, arguably, some of the best views in the city, not to mention a restaurant with an acclaimed Seattle chef, a rooftop infinity pool, and 147 spacious, classically comfortable rooms. The business-y surroundings might preclude the opulence of other, larger Four Seasons properties, but what you lose in neighborhood ambience you gain in vistas and proximity to the best Seattle attractions.

Hyatt at Olive 8

Hyatt at Olive 8 Rating: 4.0 Pearls

You almost can’t go wrong with the Hyatt at Olive 8, which is known for its exceptionally high customer ratings, environmentally conscious design, and easy, walk-to-everything location. If you’re looking for a romantic lobby in which to have cocktails, you might want to head across the street to the dark and elegant Grand Hyatt; otherwise, be prepared to happily stay put.

Grand Hyatt Seattle

Grand Hyatt Seattle Rating: 4.0 Pearls

If you want modern elegance and lavish rooms -- and are unwilling to spring for the Four Seasons directly on the waterfront -- the Grand Hyatt is an ideal tradeoff. Surrounded by many major Seattle attractions (you can see the Pike Place Market sign just five blocks away), plus great restaurants and shopping, it manages to meld convenience with luxury service.

Pan Pacific Seattle

Pan Pacific Seattle Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This elegant, contemporary luxury hotel is an excellent choice for travelers with business in northern Belltown or South Lake Union. That said, its location is a bit of a schlep to sightseeing, shopping, and the coveted waterfront, so if pleasure is the reason for your visit, best to book one of the hotels closer to Pike Place Market.

Inn at the Market

Inn at the Market Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Inn at the Market is one of Seattle's best-known, and most popular, hotels, in large part due to its unbeatable location: It's the only hotel in the Pike Place Market, right in the heart of downtown Seattle. But the location isn't the only reason to stay; the hotel has a long list of great features, including four solid restaurants, a pleasant rooftop deck with stunning panoramic views, free Wi-Fi, and in-room massage service. Rooms are sophisticated and contemporary, if a tad bland for some tastes, and come with upscale conveniences, such as great Hypnos beds (with reading lights attached to the headboard), Sferra linens, Gilchrist & Soames toiletries, and iPod docks.

Sheraton Seattle Hotel

Sheraton Seattle Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Mammoth in size (1,258 rooms), and neutral in charm, the Sheraton capitalizes on its ultimate draw: location, location, location. You can literally walk to every Seattle attraction from this hotel, situated in the epicenter of downtown Seattle. Even heading over to the Seattle Center Space Needle is a mere two-minute Monorail ride away.

Fairmont Olympic Hotel

Fairmont Olympic Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The historic Olympic Hotel, part of the luxury Fairmont chain since 2003, is a Seattle institution. It has a grand lobby with architecture that evokes the 1920s (the hotel opened in 1924), an impressive clientele list that includes JFK, and one of the oldest oyster bars in the city. Numerous property features include a spa, an indoor pool, a well-equipped fitness center, and an elegant, upscale restaurant. Rooms feature large flat-screen TVs and classic decor (mahogany headboards, floral curtains, and striped wallpaper), but they're less luxurious than one might expect, and some may find the style a bit stuffy. Like other properties in the Fairmont chain, the hotel accommodates both families and pets: The restaurants and room service feature kids' menus; amenities include children-sized robes and baby amenities; and dogs and cats under 40 pounds can stay at the hotel for a one-time fee. There is a fee for Wi-Fi, but members of the Fairmont Presidents Club do not have to pay.

Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel

Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

There are very few Seattle hotels this close to the water, so if you want to enjoy everything this scenic city has to offer -- with an emphasis on harbor attractions and cruise access – the Marriott is a great pick. But note that not all of the rooms capitalize on the water views, balconies are small, and the five-minute trek to Pike Place Market is all uphill.

Hotel 1000

Hotel 1000 Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upscale hotel is located smack-dab in the heart of Downtown Seattle, within walking distance of major attractions like the Pike Place Market and the waterfront. It has gorgeous amenities that make it stand apart from most other hotels in the area, including a virtual golf system, a full-service spa with a wonderful (and expensive) menu of personalized treatments, and an acclaimed (and locally popular) restaurant on-site. The sexy, glass-enclosed bathrooms with tubs that fill from the ceiling and separate walk-in showers are arguably the highlight of the high-tech and modern (though somewhat dark) rooms. Overall, it's certainly luxurious, but the feel is that of a glossed-up Westin or Kimpton -- it lacks the nuances of a truly high-end brand, such as Rosewood.

Redmond Marriott Town Center

Redmond Marriott Town Center Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The Redmond Marriott Town Center is attached to a popular outdoor shopping mall, and its Redmond location convenient for conferences and Microsoft/Nintendo/ATT meetings. But rooms are bland, and there are extra fees for everything (Wi-Fi, breakfast) -- unlike at its Residence Inn sister hotel a mere one-minute-walk away.
