Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa

Sedona Rouge Hotel and Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upper-middle-range boutique in Uptown Sedona has 77 stylish, contemporary rooms with up-to-date technology. Some have views of the red rocks, but the tiny balconies don’t allow for outside seating. If views are a priority, the slightly less stylish Best Western Arroyo Roble features larger balconies with good views for around the same same price. But it lacks the Rouge Hotel's luxury spa.

Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa

Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The mid-range Hilton Sedona has features to please both families and business travelers, including several pools, event services, the enormous spa, and a neighboring golf course. The Hilton is a 20-minute drive from Sedona, but red rock views are still spectacular (from certain rooms) and the atmosphere is more relaxed than in Uptown. You'll have to pay for Wi-Fi, though -- unlike at the nearby Bell Rock Inn.

Las Posadas of Sedona

Las Posadas of Sedona Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The upper-middle-range Las Posadas offers 20 spacious, bed-and-breakfast-style suites in a quiet corner of Sedona, seven miles from the busy Uptown area. Guests come for the huge suites with kitchenettes, living rooms, and fireplaces, as well as the homey atmosphere, which extras like the three-course gourmet breakfast, daily appetizers, and cookies (all free) help create. But don't expect much in the way of amenities -- the property lacks a pool and on-site fitness area.

Bell Rock Inn

Bell Rock Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

On picturesque Highway 179 in the Village of Oak Creek, the mid-range Bell Rock Inn has 75 rooms at affordable rates and two pools (one with views of nearby buttes). Big, clean rooms come with kitchenettes, but decor is hit or miss: some rooms have dated, 1980s-style decor, while others are contemporary. The nearby Ridge on Sedona's renovated rooms are nicer, but its views are a little less impressive.

Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort

Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The lower-middle-range Sedona Ridge is just off Highway 179 in the Village of Oak Creek, with 118 rooms housed in 23 tan stucco buildings on a sprawling property. The red rocks are far from the Ridge, so views of them are limited, but good views exist of the surrounding desert landscape, especially from the two heated pools. Rooms have kitchenettes, but many guests will have to drive from the lobby to reach them. Guests wanting better views at a similar price point should consider the Bell Rock Inn.

Los Abrigados Resort and Spa

Los Abrigados Resort and Spa Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Los Abrigados occupies an excellent location near Uptown Sedona, with Oak Creek running past the property, and shopping and dining next door at the lovely Tlaquepaque Arts & Crafts Village. The grounds are gorgeous and include a mini-golf course. However, the rooms -- though most are large, with kitchenettes and balconies -- could use an update. More modern rooms in Uptown Sedona can be had at a similar price point at the Best Western Arroyo Roble.

Sedona Summit Resort

Sedona Summit Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 230-room mid-range property has an isolated location on the western edge of Sedona, with distant views of the red rocks. Rooms have full kitchens, large balconies, and up-to-date technology, and families will likely appreciate the resort's three pools and kids' clubhouse. But be prepared to suffer through a timeshare sales pitch.

Junipine Resort

Junipine Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The upper-middle-range Junipine Resort isn’t a true “resort” -- don’t expect a swimming pool, fitness center, spa, or shops. Rather, Junipine comprises 50 individually owned creek-side condos in secluded, woodsy Oak Creek Canyon. The Junipine offers plenty of peace and quiet, as well as nice views, and the 1,400-square-foot condos are spacious -- though some could use an update.

Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas

Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 65-room mid-range property is a Best Western, but before you think “motel,” think again. With stunning views of Oak Creek Canyon’s red rocks, two pools, and a gorgeous little stretch of Oak Creek to explore, this Best Western has more to offer than you might expect. It sits in Uptown Sedona, within easy walking distance of shopping and dining. The free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking add value, and rooms are bright and clean, if generic.
