Bell Rock Inn

Bell Rock Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

On picturesque Highway 179 in the Village of Oak Creek, the mid-range Bell Rock Inn has 75 rooms at affordable rates and two pools (one with views of nearby buttes). Big, clean rooms come with kitchenettes, but decor is hit or miss: some rooms have dated, 1980s-style decor, while others are contemporary. The nearby Ridge on Sedona's renovated rooms are nicer, but its views are a little less impressive.
Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort

Ridge on Sedona Golf Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The lower-middle-range Sedona Ridge is just off Highway 179 in the Village of Oak Creek, with 118 rooms housed in 23 tan stucco buildings on a sprawling property. The red rocks are far from the Ridge, so views of them are limited, but good views exist of the surrounding desert landscape, especially from the two heated pools. Rooms have kitchenettes, but many guests will have to drive from the lobby to reach them. Guests wanting better views at a similar price point should consider the Bell Rock Inn.
Sedona Summit Resort

Sedona Summit Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 230-room mid-range property has an isolated location on the western edge of Sedona, with distant views of the red rocks. Rooms have full kitchens, large balconies, and up-to-date technology, and families will likely appreciate the resort's three pools and kids' clubhouse. But be prepared to suffer through a timeshare sales pitch.
Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona

Best Western Plus Inn of Sedona Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 110-room hotel is among the best in its class in Sedona. While other mid-range hotels can offer similar amenities, the Best Western Plus Inn also offers great views (in three directions) of the red rocks. Spacious outdoor decks provide comfortable places to relax with a drink while gazing east, west, and north. Shopping and dining is within a short walk or drive, and the hotel offers a free shuttle to points within three miles. There is a small pool and hot tub, and guest rooms are clean and modern; some offer fireplaces and terraces with views. Breakfast is free daily, and includes a nice selection of hot and cold items.
Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast

Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The five-room Cozy Cactus Bed and Breakfast is a warm, welcoming, and affordable Sedona bed-and-breakfast in a quiet neighborhood overlooking stunning Bell Rock, with a hiking trail through the red rocks that begins just outside the hotel's back gate. Their slogan -- "Not fancy... Fabulous!" -- perfectly captures the vibe of this relaxed, family-run hotel, offering exceptional views and personal attention. Each room is different, but all have kitchenettes, king beds, private entrances, and homey Southwestern decor. The free, three-course breakfast is exceptionally popular. Those who are willing to trade the intimate, special vibe for more features (such as a pool) may want to compare prices with the Sedona Rouge.
Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas

Best Western Plus Arroyo Roble Hotel & Creekside Villas Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 65-room mid-range property is a Best Western, but before you think “motel,” think again. With stunning views of Oak Creek Canyon’s red rocks, two pools, and a gorgeous little stretch of Oak Creek to explore, this Best Western has more to offer than you might expect. It sits in Uptown Sedona, within easy walking distance of shopping and dining. The free breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking add value, and rooms are bright and clean, if generic.
Oak Creek Terrace Resort

Oak Creek Terrace Resort Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The 20-room, mid-range Oak Creek Terrace Resort is a rustic, family-owned and -operated hotel in Oak Creek Canyon, just north of Sedona. The landscape is the star here, with a creek for swimming or fishing with the hotel’s fishing poles, a creekside glade with hammocks for napping, and bird sounds for accompaniment. Each room -- some are standalone cottages, others are in the main building -- has different features, such as screened patios, but all have romantic wood-burning fireplaces and whirlpool tubs for two. The hotel is a great, unfussy choice for vacationing families and couples.
Matterhorn Inn

Matterhorn Inn Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The 23-room, budget Matterhorn Inn is not fancy, but it is clean, comfortable, and ideally located in Sedona’s Uptown area, with its trendy shops, restaurants, and galleries. The motel-style inn’s views of Oak Creek Canyon are especially impressive. There is a small pool and outdoor hot tub, and an outdoor fireplace on the pool deck. Rooms are simple and unassuming, a bit dated in style, with spacious private balconies from which to watch the sunset over the red rocks. All in all, the Matterhorn is a low-key spot with a welcoming atmosphere and immaculate accommodations, which allows guests to spend the money they save on a room trying out the many local bars, restaurants, and adventures.
The Canyon Wren - Cabins for Two

The Canyon Wren - Cabins for Two Rating: 2.5 Pearls

Surrounded by nature, the four-cabin Canyon Wren bed-and-breakfast is a warm, welcoming, family-owned and -operated retreat six miles into Oak Creek Canyon, a dream for birdwatchers and hikers. It is romantic in both summer and snow, when couples can relax by the fire. Cabins are rustic, with charming country decor, but have modern kitchens and bathrooms, and rates cover a delicious homemade breakfast.
Desert Quail Inn

Desert Quail Inn Rating: 2.0 Pearls

The Desert Quail Inn offers large rooms at a rate that is difficult to match in the Sedona area. Located in the Village of Oak Creek, it's about seven miles from Sedona, but the area has the same stunning scenery while being much less touristy. There is no on-site restaurant or bar, but the hotel does have a small pool and is in close proximity to some of the region's best hiking trails. It's a good base for families on budget, or those who plan on spending more time out hiking versus lounging. Those wanting a room with a view and a few more amenities might consider the Bell Rock Inn for slightly higher rates.
