EME Catedral Hotel

EME Catedral Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This small, hip boutique is ideally located right next door to the Seville Cathedral, in the heart of the historic center. With stylish, modern rooms featuring upscale amenities; a rooftop terrace complete with a hopping bar and a pool with striking views; and a relaxing spa offering a wide array of treatments, EME Catedral Hotel sets the bar for Seville cool. Just note that some guests complain of dim room lighting, and of noise coming from the rooftop bar.
NH Sevilla Plaza de Armas

NH Sevilla Plaza de Armas Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This chain hotel's location allows for an easy walk to Seville’s historic center, and it's conveniently away from the hustle and bustle due to its location near the Guadalquivir River. While the area immediately surrounding the hotel can feel a bit deserted, NH Plaza de Armas offers a great value for a comfortable property with modern rooms and facilities, including a rooftop pool. Double Standard and Superior Rooms, along with Junior Suites, are bright and sophisticated, though some of the furniture is a little scuffed. Business travelers have the advantage here, with brightly-lit meeting rooms and a well-equipped business center.
Meliá Lebreros

Meliá Lebreros Rating: 4.0 Pearls

One of four Seville locations of an urban hotel chain, Meliá Lebreros is a bit outside of the historic center and has one of the larger outdoor pools in the city. Parts of the older building, including higher-level rooms, have been renovated, but some areas could still use updating. Nonetheless, the Meliá is more affordable than other comparable properties, and also offers special family rooms with kid-friendly decor. The amenities, aside from the pool, include a gym open 24 hours daily, restaurants, bars, a nightclub that pays homage to New York’s Studio 54, and several meeting rooms.
Vincci La Rabida Hotel

Vincci La Rabida Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This historic, 81-room boutique is centrally located in the old center of Seville, within walking distance of most major attractions. Common areas -- such as the gorgeous arched courtyard and the restaurants -- are classic, elegant and luxurious, with original architectural details dating back to the 18th century. Suites feature upscale touches, including lofted rooms with four-poster king beds, the occasional antique, and jetted tubs. But some Standard Rooms may be a little stark for some -- with simple wooden furniture and somewhat tired bathrooms -- and there is no fitness center or pool.
Melia Sevilla

Melia Sevilla Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 365-room Melia Sevilla is an upscale chain hotel catering to business travelers outside the city center of Seville. Located in a quiet part of the city across from the Plaza España, this modern, fresh property has many conveniences including a spa, hair salon, fitness center, seasonal outdoor pool, and indoor pool. Even more conveniences are available to VIP guests staying on The Level, an exclusive floor with its own reception and private lounge. There is a huge breakfast buffet (for a fee), a lounge, and a restaurant. Rooms are stylish with stocked minibars and sleek bathrooms, but there is a fee for parking. A more affordable option with less amenities is the Monte Carmelo Hotel.
Silken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel

Silken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Part of the Spanish-Belgian Silken chain, the 623-room Silken Al-Andalus Palace Hotel is a huge hotel located two miles outside the Seville City Center. Public transportation is necessary to reach the city's major points of interest. There is a big outdoor pool with nice landscaping and plenty of lounge space, along with a small on-site gym. Rooms vary in design -- some on the designer floor were beautifully decorated by Seville designers Victorio & Lucchino -- while others are simple and somewhat generic. Some guests complain about the isolated location and lack of personal service.
Hotel Monte Carmelo

Hotel Monte Carmelo Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 68-room Monte Carmelo is a solid mid-range pick in Los Remedios neighborhood, a local area outside the city center (but still within a 15-minute walk of most major attractions). Clean, spacious rooms feature flat-screen TVs, pillow menus, Free Wi-Fi, A/C units, and minibars. Decor throughout the property is ho-hum, but it does include colorful Spanish accents: turquoise headboards and chairs in the rooms, orange walls and wood beam ceilings in the dining room, and coral chairs in the lobby. There’s little in the way of amenities -- just a quality breakfast buffet and meeting rooms -- but the price is right.
Hotel Montecarlo

Hotel Montecarlo Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Hotel Montecarlo is an adequate lower-middle-range hotel, when the price is right (though it can be overpriced, especially during peak season). The highlight here is the location -- right in the heart of the historic center, within walking distance of virtually all major attractions, restaurants, bars, and shopping. The building itself is also a plus: It's an 18th-century traditional structure built around two typical Andalusian patios, featuring tiles and whitewash. But most rooms are drab, with dated decor, stippled-finish paint on walls, low-quality bedding, and dingy bathrooms. They do, however, all have minibars, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi, and a few have been renovated and have a slightly fresher look (but still nothing to write home about).
Tryp Macarena

Tryp Macarena Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 331-room TRYP Macarena -- located in front of Seville's old city wall -- has a great deal of Andalusian flavor for a chain property. There is a rooftop pool and terrace with panoramic views of Seville and the ancient city walls. Three restaurants serving regional dishes add to the authentic Spanish feel. This hotel is ideally located for Holy Week or the Feria de Abril de Sevilla, when the basilica next door plays a large role in the celebrations. Rooms are available in a variety of sizes but the grandeur of this property is fading, with some dated decor and complaints about thin walls.
Hotel Monte Triana

Hotel Monte Triana Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Monte Triana is a mid-range property located on a quiet street in Triana, a working-class neighborhood across the river from the city center. It features 116 clean, spacious rooms with contemporary decor in shades of beige and cream, as well as A/C units, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. There’s little in the way of amenities, just a restaurant serving a quality breakfast buffet, a small business center with two computers, and an underground parking lot. It’s a solid pick for value in a quiet part of town, but most sights are not within easy walking distance.
