Meliá Lebreros

Meliá Lebreros Rating: 4.0 Pearls

One of four Seville locations of an urban hotel chain, Meliá Lebreros is a bit outside of the historic center and has one of the larger outdoor pools in the city. Parts of the older building, including higher-level rooms, have been renovated, but some areas could still use updating. Nonetheless, the Meliá is more affordable than other comparable properties, and also offers special family rooms with kid-friendly decor. The amenities, aside from the pool, include a gym open 24 hours daily, restaurants, bars, a nightclub that pays homage to New York’s Studio 54, and several meeting rooms.
Melia Sevilla

Melia Sevilla Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 365-room Melia Sevilla is an upscale chain hotel catering to business travelers outside the city center of Seville. Located in a quiet part of the city across from the Plaza España, this modern, fresh property has many conveniences including a spa, hair salon, fitness center, seasonal outdoor pool, and indoor pool. Even more conveniences are available to VIP guests staying on The Level, an exclusive floor with its own reception and private lounge. There is a huge breakfast buffet (for a fee), a lounge, and a restaurant. Rooms are stylish with stocked minibars and sleek bathrooms, but there is a fee for parking. A more affordable option with less amenities is the Monte Carmelo Hotel.
Sacristia de Santa Ana

Sacristia de Santa Ana Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The 24-room Sacristia de Santa Ana is an upper-middle-range boutique hotel constructed in classic Andalusian style, based around an interior courtyard with three floors and a glassed-in atrium. Situated about 20 minutes on foot from the old center of Seville on lively Alameda de Hercules square, the area is lined with cafes and restaurants that stay hopping well into the evening. Individually outfitted rooms feature Spanish Empire style decor with modern touches and include decorative striped headboards, glass chandelier sconce lights, and chintz screen closet doors. Some guests have complained that noise from the square filters into the outward-facing rooms at night.
Vertice Sevilla

Vertice Sevilla Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Vertice Sevilla is a mid-range chain hotel, situated about 45 minutes west of Seville’s main tourist area via public transportation. Because it's located just a seven-minute drive from a large convention center, it caters largely to business travelers (the airport is also nearby). The hotel is clean and adequate in terms of comfort, but has a generic feel from mauve vinyl easy chairs in the lobby to the laminate wood furniture throughout. There is a fitness center with a dry sauna, an outdoor pool that converts to an indoor pool in the winter, and free breakfast for early risers. Most agree that the neighborhood holds little appeal and that room decor is a little dated, but that the rooms are comfortable and the property is a good value.
Hotel Abanico Sevilla

Hotel Abanico Sevilla Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Mid-range Hotel Abanico Sevilla is located on a narrow street in a central area of Sevilla's historic district. Restaurants, shops, and public transportation are within easy walking distance. Inside of an 18th century building, this hotel is charming and quaint. Rooms have antique features like bright Spanish tile and light fixtures, but the style lacks polish and at times feels dated. Some rooms have balconies with city views while others have bars or grates on the windows. Additionally, some rooms receive street noise. There is a quality breakfast buffet and an on-site cafe offers free items such as coffee and pastries. Wi-Fi is free (though the connection may be poor). This hotel does not offer any on-site parking.
Hotel Monte Carmelo

Hotel Monte Carmelo Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 68-room Monte Carmelo is a solid mid-range pick in Los Remedios neighborhood, a local area outside the city center (but still within a 15-minute walk of most major attractions). Clean, spacious rooms feature flat-screen TVs, pillow menus, Free Wi-Fi, A/C units, and minibars. Decor throughout the property is ho-hum, but it does include colorful Spanish accents: turquoise headboards and chairs in the rooms, orange walls and wood beam ceilings in the dining room, and coral chairs in the lobby. There’s little in the way of amenities -- just a quality breakfast buffet and meeting rooms -- but the price is right.
Tryp Macarena

Tryp Macarena Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The 331-room TRYP Macarena -- located in front of Seville's old city wall -- has a great deal of Andalusian flavor for a chain property. There is a rooftop pool and terrace with panoramic views of Seville and the ancient city walls. Three restaurants serving regional dishes add to the authentic Spanish feel. This hotel is ideally located for Holy Week or the Feria de Abril de Sevilla, when the basilica next door plays a large role in the celebrations. Rooms are available in a variety of sizes but the grandeur of this property is fading, with some dated decor and complaints about thin walls.
NH Collection Sevilla

NH Collection Sevilla Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The NH Collection Sevilla is a mid-range, modern hotel set slightly west of the tourist center of town. The property is about a 30-minute walk to the Jewish quarter in an area characterized by shopping malls, large avenues, and mid-rise apartment buildings. The hotel offers clean, modern rooms with slightly small bathrooms, LED reading lights, and Nespresso machines. There are a modest fitness center, a rooftop pool with lounge chairs, a modern restaurant and bar, and several large meeting areas for business clients. The cited inconveniences include the location away from the city’s tourist center and the fact that many staff don’t speak English.
Hotel Zenit Sevilla

Hotel Zenit Sevilla Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The 128-room Hotel Zenit Sevilla is a budget property located in the Triana quarter of Seville, a 15-minute walk from the heart of the city's Jewish quarter. Situated on the west bank of the Guadalquivir, the hotel sits in a lively pedestrian area with a village-like feel; there are plenty of bars and restaurants in the neighboring streets. Rooms are slightly dark and old fashioned, but are good value. The property has a tiny fitness center, rental bikes, and parking for a fee. The hotel can sometimes get crowded with organized groups, but there is free Wi-Fi and lots of space to lounge in the large lobby.
