Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney

Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney is a luxury, executive hotel in Sydney's Central Business District (CBD) that caters primarily to business travelers. A variety of lodging options are available, from smaller, more affordable rooms with comfy office chairs and work desks to a Presidential Suite with a kitchen and dining/meeting room. There are also a swimming pool, steam room, well-equipped gym, and two restaurants, one of which offers a varied breakfast buffet and popular afternoon tea. The hotel has eight event spaces for up to 200 people, and offers free Wi-Fi throughout. Travelers looking for more extensive business facilities may want to check out the nearby Sofitel, which has a massive ballroom for up to 1,200 guests, though lacks a pool and charges for Wi-Fi.
Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

Four Seasons Hotel Sydney Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Four Seasons Hotel Sydney is a luxurious city center hotel aimed at business travelers with expense accounts. With 531 rooms, it's the largest Four Seasons in the chain's portfolio, and the constant coming and going of guests -- the majority of whom are business travelers -- gives this central Sydney hotel a busy, and somewhat impersonal, ambience. Rooms have all-marble bathrooms and oversize flat-screen TVs, but the decor is noticeably bland, lacking the luxurious look and feel that one might expect from such a high-priced hotel. That said, the amenities are extensive and high quality, and include a swimming pool, well-equipped gym, and spa with sauna and steam rooms. There are also a bar and two restaurants, although the poolside restaurant is only open seasonally and the other is closed for lunch on weekends and dinner on Sundays. Fortunately, 24-hour room service is available and guests can fill up at the big (and expensive) buffet breakfast, served daily.
Shangri-La Hotel Sydney

Shangri-La Hotel Sydney Rating: 5.0 Pearls

With sweeping views of both Darling Harbor and Sydney Cove, the Shangri-La Hotel Sydney is one of the most desirable hotels in the city. It's located in The Rocks, a charming, historic area just north of the Central Business District. Asian-inspired interiors are luxurious, and the large and bright rooms have big marble bathrooms complete with separate showers and soaking tubs. They are also tech-savvy, making them popular with business travelers, featuring built-in coverters in outlets for worry-free charging. The hotel has two bars and two restaurants, one on the 36th floor that is a destination restaurant in Sydney. Amenities are extensive, and include a peaceful indoor pool, modern fitness center, and serene spa. With 563 rooms, the hotel may not be intimate, but the polished interiors and great views make it worth the price tag.
Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park

Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 212-room Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park is a large, high-end business hotel with lots of amenities. As the name suggests, it's close to Olympic Park, making it a popular choice for sports fans attending nearby events, but inconvenient for tourists wanting to be in the city center, which takes at least half an hour to reach. Rooms are spacious with lovely bathrooms (complete with separate soaking tubs and stall showers) but have bland decor, and there's a pesky fee for Wi-Fi (except for conference delegates and Executive Suites guests). On-site amenities include multiple meeting rooms, a wine bar, \restaurant with 24-hour room service, and big gym. While there's no pool on-site, guests get to use the nearby Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre for free. Those looking for similar digs in the city center may want to check out the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney. Those wanting something a little cheaper should compare rates at the Novotel Sydney Olympic Park, a four-pearl property just across the street.
Pullman Sydney Hyde Park

Pullman Sydney Hyde Park Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Located just off Hyde Park in Darlinghurst is an upscale, business-oriented property with many meeting spaces and a business center (though there's a fee to use the Internet). However, many guests feel it doesn't live up to its advertised five-star status. Though common spaces feel posh -- the lobby exudes class and sophistication with fresh orchids, marble floors, and a cozy guest lounge -- rooms are typical of a nicer Pullman hotels, with chain-like contemporary decor and flat-screen TVs. The kitchenette amenities, including microwaves, coffeemakers, and toasters, are a bonus, however, and some rooms have high-end bathrooms with soaking tubs. The classy Windows on the Park restaurant, with its beautiful views of Hyde Park, is worthy of a luxury hotel, as if the rooftop pool with great city views -- but the small fitness center, not so much.
Blue Sydney - A Taj Hotel

Blue Sydney - A Taj Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The unique Blue Sydney was originally a 1,310-foot long wharf built in 1911 on Woolloomooloo Bay. The architecture and decor of this luxury boutique hotel retain this history, mixing bits of the industrial warehouse look with a chic, modern design. The 100 rooms and lofts have posh, nautical style, as well as iPod docks, flat-screen TVs, and Wi-Fi (for a fee) -- but show some minor wear and tear. It's part of the Taj hotel chain, and is certainly one of the most luxurious hotels in Sydney -- located in a popular dining destination, near high-end restaurants and bars. The hotel's own on-site hot spot, WaterBar, is an impressive cathedral-meets-warehouse lounge with an extensive food and cocktail menu, stylish seating, stunning high ceilings and an overall ultra-cool ambiance. But it's a bit removed from more popular areas, such as the Central Business District.
Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney

Amora Hotel Jamison Sydney Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This bright, contemporary luxury hotel, located in the Central Business District, just south of The Rocks and Circular Quay, reflects Sydney's personality: relaxed and stylish. The bi-level lobby/lounge area features floor-to-ceiling windows with panoramic views of the city. The minimalist rooms have minibars, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, DVD players, and (in some) beautiful harbor or city views -- but a few are showing minor wear, and lower-level rooms look plain. One of the best features of the rooms are the modern tile bathrooms, which have walk-in showers and separate large soaking tubs. Outside the rooms, the hotel has two trendy restaurants and two bars, a tiny fitness center, a small but contemporary spa, and an attractive indoor pool. For business travelers, there are two large conference spaces that can accommodate up to 280 guests; leisure travelers will likely appreciate the location, within walking distance to popular sights.
Sofitel Sydney Wentworth

Sofitel Sydney Wentworth Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Located in Sydney's Central Business District, the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth is a 436-room luxury business hotel with extensive conference facilities. The rooms here have slightly plain decor for this caliber but quality amenities, including Sofitel's signature featherbeds, well-stocked minibars, and upscale toiletries in the marble bathrooms. The property features are equally sophisticated and include a fitness center with free classes, a casual bar/restaurant, and a more formal restaurant with a huge breakfast buffet (with French pastries, bien sur) and gourmet cuisine in the evening. There's plenty of space for groups, and the largest of the 11 meeting spaces can accommodate 1,200 guests. But steep charges for breakfast and Wi-Fi add up quickly. Travelers might also want to check out the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel Sydney, which is also in the CBD and has a large indoor pool.
