Hotel Madeline Telluride

Hotel Madeline Telluride Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The luxurious Hotel Madeline has a great Mountain Village location next to the skating rink and within easy walking distance of restaurants and bars. This hotel offers 84 rooms, 12 suites, and 10 condos that all have big, spectacular bathrooms with deep soaking tubs and separate stall showers. Condos are the most spacious option, with full gourmet kitchens and washer/dryers. The Madeline is one of the only hotels in the area with a fully indoor pool and Jacuzzi, and it even has a spa on-site with five treatment rooms. The two restaurants are also a plus: the more formal farm-to-table restaurant, M's, and the M-Bar, a cozy gastropub. With a big fitness center, ski storage/valet, and easy access to the slopes, this hotel is an amenities-packed option in Mountain Village.
Lumiere Hotel

Lumiere Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This stylish boutique hotel offers some of the most luxurious accommodations in Mountain Village. Handsome hotel rooms and condo-style units (with up to four bedrooms) offer a sophisticated, modern take on mountain decor, and all come with kitchenettes or full kitchens, as well as decadent bathrooms. It's a small property, with only 29 rooms, and the amenities don't compare to those at the enormous Peaks Resort, or to those at the comparably luxurious Hotel Madeline. But there is a cozy on-site bar serving sushi, a fitness center (though it's a bit dark, and has limited equipment), a tiny outdoor pool, and a Jacuzzi. There's no full spa, but the property does have a single massage room, and in-room treatments are available.
Mountain Lodge at Telluride

Mountain Lodge at Telluride Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Located in Mountain Village, Mountain Lodge at Telluride is a classic Colorado mountain getaway. This log-cabin style lodge offers spacious condo and cabin rentals for groups from two to 14 people. Most rooms have kitchens, gas fireplaces, and private balconies in addition to small touches like humidifiers to battle the dry Colorado air. One highlight of this hotel is the year-round outdoor pool and hot tub with sweeping mountain views. A cozy restaurant, called the View, has a huge fireplace and plenty of space to lounge over a local beer. Additional perks here include a small fitness center, steamrooms, and free Wi-Fi.
The Hotel Telluride

The Hotel Telluride Rating: 4.0 Pearls

With a scenic mountain location and friendly staff, the Hotel Telluride is a good pick for both the winter and summer seasons. Offering a total of 57 rooms and two suites, the hotel is on the smaller side for a mountain retreat. Room decor is warm and amenities include mini-fridges, microwaves, and humidifiers to battle the dry Colorado air. Bathrooms are big and updated with lovely marble accents, and the hotel also offers two outdoor above ground hot tubs. A cozy, on-site restaurant aptly named the Nook, serves a breakfast buffet -- with omelet station -- and apres-ski meals as well. While there is a fee for underground parking and there is no real spa, there are two massage rooms and the lodge-style lobby is complete with a big stone fireplace and games. The Hotel Telluride might not have some features that can be found in nearby bigger hotels -- such as a pool -- but it does offer a small fitness room and has a pet-friendly attitude.
The Peaks Resort and Spa

The Peaks Resort and Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The upscale Peaks Resort and Spa, which has a great ski-in, ski-out Mountain Village location, is one of the largest and most amenity-packed properties in the area. The numerous features include a huge 42,000 square foot spa and fitness center with Pilates and yoga studio; golf course; tennis courts; and two on-site restaurants. Families will likely appreciate the indoor/outdoor pool with a waterslide, indoor rock climbing wall, and organized kids' programs. The 161 sophisticated rooms offer fantastic mountain views and free Wi-Fi. But be prepared for hidden fees, including a resort fee and daily valet parking fee.
Inn at Lost Creek

Inn at Lost Creek Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Inn at Lost Creek is located near the gondola in Mountain Village. This upscale inn offers just 32 suites and a quiet atmosphere. All units include a full equipped kitchen (or kitchenette in the studios), updated bathrooms with marble vanities and soaking tubs, and fireplaces. Guests can relax in two rooftop hot tubs with excellent mountain views or take advantage of on-site Christy Sports for ski and snowboard rentals. While the inn lacks a fitness center or pool, guests can use the indoor pool and fitness center at Hotel Madeline. A restaurant, 9545, is open seasonally for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. With free Wi-Fi and a variety of unit sizes, this inn is a good Mountain Village pick.
The Peaks See Forever Rentals

The Peaks See Forever Rentals Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Peaks See Forever Rentals in Mountain Village offers great luxury accommodations for groups and families, including stand-alone cabin rentals and two- to four-bedroom condo units. Guests can access facilities at the neighboring sister property, Peaks Resort & Spa, including restaurants, a fitness center, a spa with 32 treatment rooms, and two pools -- but expect to pay a hefty resort fee. Rates in the winter can be steep, so it may be worth comparing prices with luxury competitors such as Lumiere Hotel and Hotel Madeline Telluride.
The Ice House Lodge

The Ice House Lodge Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The Ice House Lodge is one of the oldest buildings in Telluride, and has impressive history. Its Lodge Rooms and Suites underwent a major renovation in 2008, and received updated marble bathrooms. The one-, two-, and three-bedroom condo units are individually owned, decorated, and updated. The indoor/outdoor pool has views of the river, and the many freebies -- including a great continental breakfast and free parking -- make the rentals at the Ice House a solid value.
Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs

Box Canyon Lodge and Hot Springs Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Box Canyon Lodge is a 39-room property with a cheery yellow facade surrounded by stunning views of the Rocky Mountains. Pine wood accent walls add a touch of charm to the guest rooms, but exterior entrances give them a motel-like feel. The four outdoor hot tubs with natural thermal waters are a big draw, and the free Wi-Fi and free cold breakfast add to the value. However, visitors who wish to ski in Telluride should be aware that it is about a one-hour drive away.
Camels Garden Hotel

Camels Garden Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Camel's Garden is the closest hotel to the gondola in Telluride. This convenient, central location is also within easy walking distance of downtown. All 31 rooms and suites offer cozy fireplaces, balconies, marble bathrooms, and big tubs. A further eight condos have even more space with full kitchens, spacious living areas, and washer/dryers. Perks here include the large rooftop hot tub with gorgeous mountain views, underground parking, and a free continental breakfast. The hotel is also one of the only in Telluride with a full-service spa and on-site ski/snowboard rental shop. There's also a lively apres-ski scene in the hotel's Oak restaurant known for beer, bourbon, and barbecue.
