The Hazelton Hotel

The Hazelton Hotel Rating: 5.0 Pearls

This intimate, 77-room boutique offers top-notch luxury: sleek, sophisticated room decor; and luxe dark granite bathrooms with soaking tubs, heated floors, and mirror LCD TVs. The great location (blocks from Bloor Street) and hip vibe help explain the high prices.
The Ivy at Verity

The Ivy at Verity Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Ivy at Verity is a stylish hotel with four rooms set in downtown Toronto. With its understated entrance, this four-and-a-half-pearl hotel feels secluded despite being located within half a mile of popular shopping and dining areas. Large rooms feature striking decor reminiscent of an elegant Parisian apartment, plus offer private terraces and huge bathrooms. With fashionable lounges and meeting rooms as well as a swish spa and an upscale restaurant, the hotel is ideal for relaxation or productivity. Men are free to stay at the property, but the hotel facilities are geared towards women. The women-only spa and fitness center in particular may come as a disappointment for male guests.
Hotel Le Germain Toronto

Hotel Le Germain Toronto Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 122-room boutique hotel is centrally located in the heart of the Entertainment District. Large rooms come with contemporary decor and luxe amenities (like Bose stereos and Molton Brown toiletries), but the highlights are the stylish peek-a-boo showers and the comfy beds. The property boasts a bunch of great perks, including a rooftop terrace, an outdoor putting green, and free cappuccinos and continental breakfasts -- but there’s a loud nightclub open in the weekends across the street, and some rooms are showing signs of wear and tear.
InterContinental Toronto Yorkville

InterContinental Toronto Yorkville Rating: 4.0 Pearls

With eight floors and more than 200 rooms, the Intercontinental Toronto Yorkville isn’t a true boutique, but its many unique features -- rooftop vodka bar, sought after Signatures Restaurant, and homey bay window rooms – give it a distinctive personality. Within walking distance to museums, ethnic restaurants, high-end shops, and everything the fashionable Yorkville neighborhood has to offer, the location is hard to beat. Although the hotel is classy and clean, certain elements -- worn carpet in areas, stiff sheets on the beds -- make the property feel a little dated. Still, considering the upscale neighborhood, the four-pearl InterContinental offers comfort and character.
The Drake Hotel

The Drake Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Located in the newly gentrified area of the Art and Design District, the 19-room Drake Hotel has funky decor and a design that fits in nicely with the neighborhood. Each of the nineteen rooms has its own hip style, complemented by modern touches such as flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. But the hip vibe comes with a price -- with a hot club that stays open until the wee hours of the morning, The Drake Hotel is not the place for guests looking for a good night's sleep. Those who prefer more peace and quiet should consider hotels outside this hopping neighborhood, like the equally modern (and less expensive!) Hotel Victoria, located ten minutes away.
Hotel Victoria

Hotel Victoria Rating: 3.0 Pearls

You'd never guess the Hotel Victoria's 56 cute rooms belong to a historic property: They're thoroughly modern, with 32-inch flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and free Wi-Fi. The stylish contemporary decor includes hardwood floors, blue-and-white bedding, and sleek black furniture, and the price is right -- but some rooms are small and dark.
Gladstone Hotel

Gladstone Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Housed in a historic, Romanesque Revival style building, The Gladstone Hotel embodies the Art and Design District's marriage of old-school allure and new-school funk. Each of the thirty-seven rooms is designed by a different artist, but you may have to wait a minute for a hotel employee to operate the 1907 hand-crank elevator before getting to your room. The scene at the hotel is hip and young, and revelers can be heard at the hotel's Melody Bar late into the night, so if you're looking for peace and quiet, you may want to consider hotels outside this hopping neighborhood, like the equally modern (and less expensive!) Hotel Victoria, located ten minutes away. Or opt for the earplugs the hotel provides!
Suite Dreams Toronto Bed & Breakfast

Suite Dreams Toronto Bed & Breakfast Rating: 2.0 Pearls

Suite Dreams provides an intimate bed and breakfast experience inside a family home. This B&B has four suites, each with a private bathroom. It's a clean, cozy environment that's convenient to downtown Toronto. Breakfast is made to order and the prices here are better than many hotels in the area, but it lacks the privacy and amenities common to larger hotels.
