Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection

Boscolo Venezia, Autograph Collection Rating: 5.0 Pearls

A luxurious, 72-room converted palazzo in the northern edge of Venice, Boscolo Venezia Autograph Collection is a quiet retreat from the chaotic heart of the city. The rare, private garden and spa with hot tub, sauna, and steam room are highlights. Rooms have classic decor and Venetian portraits, but upgrading to a Junior Suite gets guests more space and style -- these rooms have high ceilings and intricate crown molding. The hotel's location is far from Venice's main attractions, but it does offer free water taxi service to St. Mark's Square and Murano.
Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa

Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa Rating: 5.0 Pearls

A 79-room hotel in a 16th-century converted convent, the Bauer Palladio Hotel & Spa is a quiet retreat located on the island of Giudecca. A free private water taxi transports guests across the lagoon. The expansive grounds and gardens are a highlight, with rooms overlooking either the garden or lagoon. Understated rooms are big with high ceilings, though some guests may feel they have maintained too much monastic minimalism and could use some additional polish.
Ca'Sagredo Hotel

Ca'Sagredo Hotel Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The 42 luxurious rooms of Ca’Sagredo were designed in aristocratic Venetian style. This restored pink palazzo on the Grand Canal has maintained its original grandeur, including salons filled with frescoes and sweeping staircases. Huge rooms have plush furnishings and marble bathrooms; the terrace along the canal is a scenic place for a drink. This is one of the most decadent hotel experiences in Venice, and it's right on the Grand Canal, within walking distance of St. Mark's Square.
Bauer Il Palazzo

Bauer Il Palazzo Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The Bauer Il Palazzo is a luxury chain hotel located within a five-minute walk of the bustling St. Mark’s Square. There are 38 rooms and 34 suites, which are individually decorated and spread over eight floors of this 18th-century Venetian house. Room decor varies -- some rooms are traditionally Venetian, while others are more modern. Many have spectacular views of the Grand Canal. There’s a formal restaurant here, as well as a fitness center. Guests might also want to checkout its neighboring sister hotel, Palladio, which has lower rates but not the panoramic views.
Bauer Hotel

Bauer Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The 119-room Bauer Hotel is a convenient two-minute walk from St. Mark's Square in the heart of Venice. This exclusive Art Deco-influenced property has a grand lobby full of gold accents and chandeliers as well as traditionally decorated rooms with high ceilings and big, modern bathrooms. The hotel features a restaurant and two two bars; Bar Canale has an outdoor terrace and Grand Canal views. There is nice variety in the daily breakfast buffet, but rooms lack tea or coffee facilities. Rates are typically lower at the nearby Hotel Saturnia, but the Bauer is arguably a bit more elegant.
Centurion Palace

Centurion Palace Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The Centurion Palace is a 50-room luxury hotel housed in a 19th-century palace. Its location is excellent, right on the Grand Canal and sandwiched between the Peggy Guggenheim Museum and Santa Maria della Salute. Inside, the decor is chic and opulent, and all 50 rooms are individually decorated with stylish and quirky touches. The on-site restaurant with canal views serves wonderful food, and the terrace is lovely when it's warm enough for alfresco dining. It's definitely one of the top luxury options in Venice, but those who want to be right near St. Mark's Square might prefer Luna Hotel Baglioni.
LaGare Hotel Venezia - Mgallery Collection

LaGare Hotel Venezia - Mgallery Collection Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This upscale, charming 118-room hotel on Murano Island in the Venice lagoon is a chic, modern pick with a quiet atmosphere. This restored glass factory has bright, spacious interiors and displays local glass artwork. The polished rooms are decorated in soft, earth tones with big, modern bathrooms. The hotel offers free transport to the airport and mainland Venice.
Ruzzini Palace Hotel

Ruzzini Palace Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Ruzzini Palace is an upscale, 28-room hotel housed in an imposing and richly historical palazzo set in the heart of Venice. Interiors have typically classical Venetian styling and -- while integration of contemporary elements doesn't work throughout -- rooms are generally excellently finished (especially those with original 17th-century oil paintings). Although amenities are few and Wi-Fi is not free of charge, there is a real focus on tourist services. Buffet breakfast is included in the rate, and there's a modern-looking bar where guests can sip Bellinis after a day of sightseeing. Rates can fluctuate wildly by time of year, so guests can grab an amazing deal in the low season (though high-season rates are typically exorbitant).
Hotel Principe

Hotel Principe Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Hotel Principe is a formal, upscale 139-room hotel with classic touches in the Cannaregio district on the Grand Canal. The view is amazing on the terrace overlooking the canal where guests can enjoy all meals, including the free breakfast. It’s a four-minute walk to the Santa Lucia train station but farther way from more traditional tourist destinations like San Marco. The furnishings are traditional, and some guests have complained of small rooms and unpleasant odors. It’s worth comparing the hotel Principe to the Carnival Palace Hotel which is more modern but farther from the train station.
Ca' dei Conti

Ca' dei Conti Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The upscale Ca' dei Conti is a charming hotel with 36 rooms set in an 18th century building. Its location is excellent, within a five-minute walk of all the top sights such as St Mark's Square and the Bridge of Sighs. The decor is traditionally elegant and ornate; rooms are decorated in deep, rich colors with gold touches. There’s no restaurant on-site but a breakfast buffet is provided and can be taken on the attractive sun terrace. Rates are significantly lower here than at the nearby IQs Charming House, but there's no private jetty at the Ca' dei Conti (though the nearest vaporetto stop is only five minutes away on foot).
