The neighborhood is hilly (with occasional panoramic views of Paris,) and guests can walk to Sacre Coeur where there are a number of restaurants and cafes. But while the former private home has extra large rooms and bathrooms, the decor is a bit dated and some guests complain the hotel comes across as more of an average B&B than a high-priced hotel. Another drawback for some: The hotel is situated on a private, gated lane so guests have to be buzzed in -- which can mean waiting at times. This is a nice place for romantics in search of a bit of "lost Paris," but might not be perfect for those requiring typical hotel amenities and services, as there really are none here.

This district is known for its strong local flavor and an abundance of sex shops. Chic, comfortable rooms with sleek, fully renovated bathrooms are on offer in this contemporary and stylish property. Decor is simple, including fluffy white duvets, a cool use of black silhouettes, and touches of red in the flowing curtains. The red color scheme continues in the cozy breakfast room. Business travelers might miss having a work desk in the small rooms, and families might be discouraged by the red-light district location (though the neighborhood is perfectly safe), but the property does offer free Wi-Fi and Eiffel Tower views from some rooms.
