The Excelsior, owned by Mandarin Oriental brand, is a luxury hotel with a fabulous, convenient location overlooking the harbor. It includes all of the features one would expect of a 4-pearl hotel; there is a well-equipped fitness center, three upscale restaurants, a bar, cafe, and coffee shop, as well as business-friendly amenities such as meeting rooms, a large business center, and 24-hour room service. But though many business travelers stay here, families may appreciate kid-friendly amenities such as a small gift upon arrival, cribs, and tear-free toiletries. The Excelsior's features aren't quite as impressive as those at Hong Kong's two other Mandarin Oriental hotels -- there is no pool, and the spa lacks the impressive facilities of The Landmark Mandarin Oriental -- but then, the rates here are cheaper. Roomsare updated with flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and Wi-Fi (for a fee), but the decor, which includes gold and burgundy accents and faded wallpaper, is dated. The hotel does attract repeat customers with its location, nice restaurants, and amenities.
