The House Hotel

The House Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This intimate, 40-room boutique is one of Galway's best upscale options, and has charm to spare, with a historic stone exterior and bold, quirky interior. There are few features to speak of -- no fitness center, spa services, or dedicated meeting rooms -- but the convenient location near the Spanish Arch and the heart of the Latin Quarter is ideal for sightseeing. Rooms have bright, stylish contemporary decor and upscale bathrooms with towel warmers and rainfall showerheads. The restaurant, The House Cocktail Bar & Bistro, is a local hot spot and serves modern Irish cuisine.
Ballynahinch Castle Hotel

Ballynahinch Castle Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 40-room Ballynahinch Castle Hotel is a less formal, more accessible alternative to the more famous Ashford Castle to the east. It has a riverfront location amid the wild, unspoiled beauty of Connemara and decor that's alternately homey and elegant. It's more of a manor house than a castle, but the main structure dates to the 18th century and both the building and the estate are steeped in history. The 450-acre grounds offer a range of activities, including beautiful hikes, woodcock shooting, and fishing. Both restaurants serve terrific gourmet cuisine using fish, game, and mushrooms from the surrounding region.
Park House Hotel

Park House Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The 84-room Park House Hotel is an upper-mid-range property centrally located around the corner from Eyre Square and the train and bus stations in Galway. Interiors are traditionally decorated with patterned carpets, heavy curtains, and wood paneling. The spacious lobby is full of seating, and the hotel has a lovely restaurant and bar that is popular with locals as well as guests and serves an Irish influenced French menu with seasonal and local ingredients. Rooms, though slightly dated, have comfortable beds with high-end bedding and eco-friendly toiletries in the bathrooms. Higher-tier rooms offer more space and thoughtful details such as robes and slippers, minibars, and free handmade chocolates. Wi-Fi is free throughout. It's one of the most popular hotels in Galway, but if it's booked, it's worth considering The House Hotel or the Harbour Hotel.
Harbour Hotel Galway

Harbour Hotel Galway Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The 96-room Harbour Hotel Galway is a modern upper-mid-range boutique in the city’s harbor area, a short walk from many top sights, restaurants, bars, and shops. Interiors are stylish and bright, with fresh, contemporary design featuring a color palette of grays, creams, and royal purples. The stylish restaurant and bar serves a fresh, locally sourced seafood-heavy menu and is also often host to private events. The hotel has a small, but modern, fitness center and several meeting rooms available. Rooms are small, but clean and modern, with comfortable beds and fluffy bedding as well as flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. For something a little more centrally located, travelers should check out the nearby House Hotel.
