Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort

Hotel Jerome, an Auberge Resort Rating: 4.5 Pearls

HOTEL JEROME REOPENED IN LATE 2012 AFTER A MASSIVE RENOVATION. WE ARE IN THE PROCESS OF UPDATING OUR REVIEW.

The Little Nell

The Little Nell Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This 92-room embodies mountain luxury, from its gorgeous, modern rooms to its exclusive ski concierge team. It's just steps from Aspen's main lifts, and offers first tracks benefits, free transportation to and from all four area mountains, and tons of seasonal outings. All rooms have fireplaces, Blue Ray players, and heated floors, as well as iPad and video game loans by request; rooms with mountain views cost extra. All that luxury comes at a steep price, and the Little Nell has some of the most expensive rooms Aspen. Added to the bill is also the mandatory per-night donation to a local environmental organization.

Sky Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel

Sky Hotel, a Kimpton Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Sky Hotel sits on prime Aspen property, directly at the bottom of the Silver Queen Gondola with one of the best ski-in/ski-out locations in the valley. While rooms are on the small side for the price, they reflect Kimpton’s signature style, with a modern take on lodge decor, a daily wine hour, an excellent deck with pool and Jacuzzi, and one of the most happening apres-ski scenes in Aspen. Amenities for guests' four-legged friends are plentiful, too, and unlike at other resorts, there's no fee or size restriction, easily making this the most pet-friendly hotel in Aspen.

Limelight Hotel

Limelight Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The Limelight is a modern, 126-room resort in the heart of Aspen. The hotel offers tons of inclusive perks, including transportation to and from the Aspen airport and all area lifts, Wi-Fi, continental breakfast, gym, and early mountain access with professional guides. In the summer, guests can enjoy the heated outdoor pool and free bike loans. Rooms are contemporary and high-end, if a tad bland for the price, and have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and Keurig coffeemakers. The Limelight Hotel's prime location, cozy lounge restaurant, and tons of seasonal extras make it a great four-pearl pick, but it's worth comparing rates with the nearby Sky Hotel.

The Gant

The Gant Rating: 4.0 Pearls

A popular choice among families, The Gant sits near the base of Aspen Mountain and features 140 one- to four-bedroom condos with Aspen-inspired decor (leather and wood accents, rich colors, and scenic mountain artwork). The hotel is on a large piece of land, and has two heated outdoor pools with accompanying Jacuzzis, as well as five tennis courts, so it remains lively in both the winter and summer months. But the hotel is farther from the center of town than some other resorts (although it remains within walking distance), so those hoping to be in the middle of the action may consider the nearby Aspen Square Condominium Hotel.

Aspen Square Condominium Hotel

Aspen Square Condominium Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The Aspen Square Condominium Hotel is a 101-unit property with a homey vibe and a prime downtown location just a two-minute walk from the nearest ski lift. The individually owned condos all come with full kitchens, balconies, and wood-burning fireplaces, but some units could use updates. Highlights include the pool and two Jacuzzis, which are surrounded by elegant fountains, sleek patio furniture, and numerous plants.

Molly Gibson Lodge

Molly Gibson Lodge Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Molly Gibson is one of Aspen's best values, with refreshingly clean, modern lodge-style decor, as well as a beautiful year-round outdoor pool, three Jacuzzis, free Wi-Fi, and in-room flat-screen TVs and iPod docks. While there is no on-site restaurant, the lodge is in a great Main Street Aspen location, allowing guests to walk to nearly all the major downtown attractions. The slopes are within walking distance as well, which is another draw.

The Annabelle Inn

The Annabelle Inn Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The Annabelle Inn's individually decorated rooms feel like they belong in a cabin rather than a hotel. And the cozy, casual layout follows suit -- rooms are all accessed by exterior hallways that face inward over a quaint courtyard. Amenities here are few, but the two outdoor Jacuzzis are a real highlight -- especially for slopes junkies who enjoy the ski videos played Jacuzzi-side in the evenings. Perks such as the plentiful free breakfast buffet and the great Main Street location (a little more than six blocks from the ski lifts) make the inn a great value year-round.

Hotel Aspen

Hotel Aspen Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Modern furnishings, high-tech amenities, and luxe touches such as designer toiletries give this 45-unit hotel a boutique vibe. The sleek pool deck is especially stylish, with wicker lounge chairs, year-round pool, Jacuzzi, and fire pit. Freebies include breakfast, Wi-Fi, and parking, but the property lacks standard amenities such as an elevator and restaurant. The hotel's location along Main Street is a plus, as restaurants, bars, and ski lifts are all within walking distance.
