Secrets St. James Montego Bay

Secrets St. James Montego Bay Rating: 4.5 Pearls

This all-inclusive beachfront resort on a remote peninsula is one of the more luxurious adult-only options in Montego Bay, and has a laundry list of property features, including seven restaurants, seven bars, an expansive spa, nearly half a mile of beach, and tons of activities: a theater, dive center, shopping plaza, casino, and game room. Secrets St. James shares most of its amenities with its sister property next door, but rates here are often a bit cheaper.

Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay

Secrets Wild Orchid Montego Bay Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The sprawling Secrets Wild Orchid is one of the more luxurious adults-only all-inclusive resorts in Montego Bay, and has a laundry list of property features, including eight restaurants and five bars, and a host of activities: a theater, a spa, a water sports and dive center, a shopping center, and a casino. But the resort shares virtually all of its amenities with the next-door Secrets St. James, and some of the best amenities and freebies are reserved only for the VIP guests staying in the “Premiere” part of the resort.

The Caves

The Caves Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Arguably Jamaica's most romantic escape (for adults only), the Caves' 12 unique, private cottages and suites are tucked along lush garden paths and dramatic seaside cliffs (there's no beach). High-quality, locally focused cuisine, a top-shelf bar, and intimate, incredibly attentive service make it Jamaica's best all-inclusive, though nearby Tensing Pen and Rockhouse offer similar settings at cheaper prices.

Couples Tower Isle

Couples Tower Isle Rating: 4.0 Pearls

One of the island’s first resorts and a former playground for 1950s Hollywood A-listers, this 226-room, 19-acre Ocho Rios all-inclusive is still a sophisticated option. Public areas are chic and modern, but the rooms fall a bit short by comparison. The pools are also unexceptional, though they do have ocean views, and one has a swim-up bar. The gorgeous spa, robust all-inclusive offering (excursions and top-shelf booze are covered), beachfront location, and mellow vibe are the highlights here.

Couples Sans Souci

Couples Sans Souci Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 35-acre, 148-room all-inclusive resort has a lush natural setting filled with waterfalls, grottos, beaches, lakes, and jungles. It still has the features of a megaresort -- three restaurants, four pools, two beaches, four bars, a spa, and tons of free activities -- but it's one of the few large-scale resorts that manages to feel crowd-free and even intimate. The rooms and public areas could use some cosmetic updates, however.

The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa

The Jewel Dunn's River Beach Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 250-room Jewel Dunn’s River Beach Resort & Spa (formerly a Sandals resort), underwent a $7 million renovation in 2010 and features six restaurants, six bars, two pools, a full-service spa, and plenty of activities. Still, some parts of the property were clearly skipped over during the makeover, namely the least expensive rooms, which are far inferior to the rest of the resort’s accommodations. And room service and alchohol are not covered in most all-inclusive rates, which may make some guests feel nickel-and-dimed. Nonetheless, the rates are cheaper than at the local Sandals, making The Jewel a good value overall.

Couples Negril

Couples Negril Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 234-room beach resort delivers more than the free meals and cheap booze of the typical all-inclusive; offerings include top-shelf liquor, unlimited golf, water sports and excursions, airport transfers and minibars that are re-stocked daily. Of course, the atmosphere is anything but intimate, with hundreds sharing a packed beach, rowdy pool, and crowded restaurants -- but it's a bit less crowded, and often cheaper, than its sister property Couples Swept Away. Rooms here are arguably nicer as well, though some may find Bloody Bay location less appealing than Swept Away's location on Seven Mile Beach.

Couples Swept Away Negril

Couples Swept Away Negril Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Restricted to couples ages 18 and up, this large (though quiet) 312-room all-inclusive is on one of Jamaica's best beaches. Modern rooms with Wi-Fi and iPod docks, quality food, and a low-key atmosphere best Sandals, but Couples isn't as intimate as the Sunset at the Palms or The Caves. Hundreds of guests share the beach and restaurants.

Iberostar Rose Hall Suites All-Inclusive

Iberostar Rose Hall Suites All-Inclusive Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 319-room, mid-range all-inclusive property is the second-best, and family-friendliest, of the three Iberostar resorts on Montego Bay’ northern shore. The rooms are large enough to share with the kids, and the resort offers an awesome kids' club with a water park, as well as a lazy river and an activities pool. Numerous features range from an expansive spa and Pilates studio to a casino and nightclub. All-inclusive rates cover meals and drinks at the property's six restaurants and six bars -- but the reservation process for the a la carte dining options is a pain.

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica

Grand Bahia Principe Jamaica Rating: 3.5 Pearls

A massive, beautifully landscaped 850-room Spanish mega-resort, the Grand Bahia is great for families or couples, but it's a pretty tame crowd--even with all-night karaoke and access to a nude beach. The huge, slightly dated rooms come with Jacuzzis, the streaming pool is superb, and the restaurants are better than at most all-inclusives.
