Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort

Marriott Key Largo Bay Beach Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

This 153-room property is located in northern Key Largo, a short drive from the John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, and close to shops and restaurants. Not a lot stands out, but there are a few perks -- like a diver’s center on-site, an adequate spa, and a nice private beach (albeit a tiny one, with little room for swimming). Big rooms have flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and nicer decor than other mid-range chains in the area -- but many bathrooms could use a renovation. Upgrading to a suite will give you a full kitchen and a large sitting area, but smaller sleeping quarters. Book a room with an ocean view to enjoy the beautiful Key Largo sunsets (and avoid facing the nearby highway).
Dove Creek Lodge, an Ascend Collection Hotel

Dove Creek Lodge, an Ascend Collection Hotel Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Dove Creek Lodge, an Ascend Hotel Collection, is a 19-room boutique hotel located in Key Largo. Situated on the waterfront, this eco-friendly hotel is near the Florida Keys Wild Bird Rehabilitation Center and John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park, the first undersea park in America. Rooms are spacious, bright, and updated -- some even offer panoramic ocean views.
Hilton Key Largo Resort

Hilton Key Largo Resort Rating: 3.5 Pearls

The Hilton is a mid-range hotel on the southern part of Key Largo. Rooms have fresh, contemporary decor, separate sitting areas (complete with sofa beds), and balconies. The tiny, shaded beach isn't exceptional, but it's pretty good for the Keys, where the beaches are all manmade. If you prefer the pool, however, you'll be just fine: The pool area is modern and sunny, and a pool bar makes grabbing drinks and snacks easy.
Island Bay Resort

Island Bay Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Island Bay Resort is a boutique-style beachfront property located in the Middle Keys with its own boat dock. A romantic getaway for couples and diving enthusiasts, the property features 10 tropically decorated cottages ranging from studios to two-bedrooms -- all with either full kitchens or kitchenettes. Owners Mike and Carol keep the grounds immaculately clean and well-landscaped, and provide guests with personal attention and service. Rates vary greatly depending on the season, the size of the cottage, and the proximity of the cottage to the water.
Courtyard by Marriott Key Largo

Courtyard by Marriott Key Largo Rating: 3.0 Pearls

This 91-room mid-range property is located off the Overseas Highway, the main thoroughfare that connects all the Florida Keys. Clean, spacious (if chain-like) rooms come with up-to-date amenities (like iHome docks and flat-screen TVs with premium channels), decent-sized bathrooms with shower/tub combos, and balconies. The bright fitness center is small, but has modern machines and wonderful views of the marina. There’s also a restaurant serving American fare, a smallish pool, and lounge chairs on a small fake beach area.
Seafarer Resort and Beach

Seafarer Resort and Beach Rating: 2.0 Pearls

The Seafarer Resort and Beach is a motel-style property that’s located on its own private beach in Key Largo. The hotel offers rooms at lower rates than other properties. However, potential guests should take note that the rooms are tiny, kitschy, and outdated. The property may be a good option for travelers who want to experience the Florida Keys on a budget and don't need many amenities.
