Carillon Hotel & Spa

Carillon Hotel & Spa Rating: 4.5 Pearls

With some of the most beautifully decorated large rooms in Miami, a beachfront location, a great spa, and a huge fitness center with a rock-climbing wall and dozens of daily classes, Carillon Hotel & Spa is a great choice for a healthy vacation -- provided you're not also looking for nightlife or a happening pool scene.
Grand Beach Hotel Surfside

Grand Beach Hotel Surfside Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 343-room Grand Beach Hotel Surfside is an upscale beachfront hotel in North Miami Beach. This stylish property has a rooftop pool with two hot tubs along with two beachside pools and hot tubs. There are many attractive amenities, including a lobby bar, modern gym and spa, gelato cafe, French restaurant, rooftop bar, and a business corner. The elegant suites are decorated in serene colors and all have big flat-screen TVs, sitting rooms, and furnished balconies with views. It's one of the most stylish picks in North Beach, though those who prefer a South Beach location can find comparable options for a similar price, such as The Redbury South Beach.
Collins Hotel

Collins Hotel Rating: 3.0 Pearls

For those who want to soak up a little sunshine on a budget, the three-pearl Collins delivers without frills or fanfare. While fresh and well-maintained, this revamped mid-century motel offers few amenities besides clean, simple rooms, an outdoor pool and close proximity to the beach. Free Wi-Fi and self-parking for a reasonable fee are helpful extras, as is access to the large gym across the street. There isn't a huge range of dining options within walking distance, but several Latin-style restaurants nearby are popular with the hotel's many South American guests.
Deauville Beach Resort

Deauville Beach Resort Rating: 3.0 Pearls

Offering a clean room with a panoramic view, quality beds, and free Wi-Fi at a reasonable price -- the Deauville is a decent pick, for North Beach. But the narrow beach seems to attract almost as many homeless people as tourists, and there's very little to eat, see, or do nearby. It's a 25-minute, $30 taxi from the South Beach action.
Casablanca on the Ocean Hotel

Casablanca on the Ocean Hotel Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The budget-friendly Casablanca on the Ocean Hotel offers slightly out of date yet large guest rooms with completely stocked kitchens including refrigerators and stoves. Views from private balconies overlook the white sandy beaches of the Atlantic Ocean or another guest's room. The North Beach location is quieter and more family-friendly than bustling South Beach. An on-site gift shop and Bogart's restaurant serve meals throughout the day. The property shows signs of wear throughout and many areas look dated (despite renovations completed in 2014), but people stay here for the low rates and the beachfront location.
Beach Place Hotel

Beach Place Hotel Rating: 2.5 Pearls

The Beach Place Hotel is a no-frills option within walking distance of a quiet beach, but well removed from the glitzy Miami center. This budget property's 53 rooms are starting to show signs of wear and tear, and have coffeemakers and mini-fridges; some have kitchenettes with microwaves and sinks. There's an outdoor pool with loungers, and palm trees throughout the grounds lend a beach-appropriate vibe. The surrounding neighborhood is quiet, and certainly more family-friendly than party-friendly, but there are bus stops out front for those who want to reach South Beach or downtown. Parking and Wi-Fi are free. The nearby Miami Beach Days Inn North Beach has similar amenities as well as an on-site restaurant and bar, for a slightly higher rate.
Holidays Golden Glades Boutique Hotel

Holidays Golden Glades Boutique Hotel Rating: 2.0 Pearls

Holiday Golden Glades Boutique Hotel is a value property with 163 large but dated rooms that could use a refresh. The hotel offers free Wi-Fi, a continental-style breakfast, and parking. It's conveniently located near I-95, and South Beach is less than a 25-minute drive from the hotel. There’s no beach nearby, but there is an outdoor pool in a fenced-off area surrounded by trees. Guests might also want to check out the Deauville Beach Resort, a three-pearl hotel with clean rooms and a large pool that's closer to the beach but has slightly higher rates than the Holidays Golden Glades.
