Esperanza Resort, An Auberge Resort

Esperanza Resort, An Auberge Resort Rating: 5.0 Pearls

This beautiful, luxurious 57-room resort is one of the nicest in Los Cabos, and offers more of a home-y vibe than other high-end properties in the area. Handsome, spacious rooms start at 925 square feet, and are decorated in traditional Baja style, with authentic artwork and wood detailing. They come with high-end electronics and decadent bathrooms (some with Jacuzzi tubs), but the private terraces are arguably the highlight; all have at least partial ocean views (many have jaw-dropping ocean views), and some have Jacuzzis. The beach is secluded and gorgeous, but the large waves and rough reefs make it unfit for swimming. The resort's pools are top-notch, though, and pool staff offers free treats (like ice pops and fresh fruit) every hour. Since it's a smaller resort, guests get a decent amount of individual attention. Although not much is within walking distance, the resort provides plenty for guests to do on-site, including several dining/drinking options and an art gallery.

One&Only Palmilla

One&Only Palmilla Rating: 5.0 Pearls

The One&Only Palmilla is easily one of the most luxurious resorts not only in Cabo, but in Mexico. Every single feature here has an upscale touch to it, from the exclusive spa, to the wonderful cuisine, to the beautiful pools -- and certainly the rooms are nothing less than lavish, with contemporary and traditional Mexican accents, and high-tech amenities (like flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi). The included extras -- such as luggage unpacking, daily fruit and cocktail snacks delivered to rooms, an aromatherapy turndown menu, and 24-hour shared butler service -- set this property far apart from the competition. Just be prepared to shell out the green -- all of this comes for an exorbitant price.

Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort

Fiesta Americana Grand Los Cabos Golf & Spa Resort Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The peaceful location of the Fiesta Americana is away from the main party atmosphere of Cabo San Lucas. All 249 rooms and suites are spacious, with relaxing, neutral tones and interesting touches such as Mexican art and sculpture accents. Luxurious features include large bathrooms with soaking tubs and walk-in showers. The gorgeous infinity pool is a real perk here, along with the above average, plush lounge chairs and cabanas, both at the pool and on the beach. The location is excellent for access to Cabo's two championship golf courses, and kids can keep entertained with a kids' club room packed with toys, art supplies, games, and computers. Suite upgrades can make a trip to Fiesta Americana uber luxurious -- extra amenities include outdoor showers and private outdoor Jacuzzis.

Secrets Marquis Los Cabos

Secrets Marquis Los Cabos Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Secrets Marquis Los Cabos is a sleek and modern all-suite, adults-only property located on a narrow stretch of sandy beach. The expansive all-white lobby features huge archways that look out onto the ocean and mountains. Hacienda-style rooms have colorful artwork with traditional Mexican images, gorgeous bathrooms with giant soaking tubs, and a wet bar that is refilled daily, but older amenities include tube TVs. All suites are ocean-facing and have balconies with generous seating. Amenities were designed for adults looking to relax, including the stunning infinity pool, huge spa, spacious fitness center, six gourmet restaurants, and three bars.

Zoetry Casa Del Mar Los Cabos

Zoetry Casa Del Mar Los Cabos Rating: 4.5 Pearls

The luxurious Zoetry Casa Del Mar Los Cabos is not your typical beach resort. Here, guests won't find children scurrying around or wild spring breakers; rather, Zoetry's guests are treated to the tranquility of the Pacific Ocean in a resort that focuses on relaxation and overall wellness. The 42-room, hacienda-style property features yoga, tennis courts, dance classes, a walking path, wine tastings, and an on-site nutrition expert; and the restaurant menus are geared toward organic and gourmet cuisine intent on promoting health. It's located on a protected sea turtle hatching ground, and the open layout adds to the relaxing atmosphere. The rooms are large with white tile flooring and sturdy wooden furniture, though they are perhaps a tad plain for this category of hotel. The bathrooms are clean and stylish, with separate soaking tubs, showers, and bathroom stalls. This romantic boutique resort is definitely more for couples and adults than families.

Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar Golf & Spa Resort

Sheraton Hacienda Del Mar Golf & Spa Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

The 270 rooms of the Sheraton Hacienda are spread out in colorful buildings across pristine grounds. The room decor itself may not be that exciting (tiled floors, rare pops of color, and local artwork attempt to create an authentic vibe) but everything is modern, including flat-screen TVs and crisp white linens. Every room has a private terrace, many with gorgeous ocean views. The private beach, where the waves can get a bit rough, is rarely crowded. And the hotel also has three pools, one with a swim-up bar. It's a good choice for families, with a kids' club and four on-site restaurants, but the hotel is a 15-minute drive from downtown Cabo, so partiers may want to stay closer to the nightlife.

The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos

The Westin Resort & Spa, Los Cabos Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Located along the secluded Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo, The Westin Resort & Spa isn't close to much -- aside from the beautiful beach (with rough waves) and the airport. Rooms are large and sleek, and there are numerous gorgeous infinity pools with ocean views. For some (particularly couples), the seclusion, quiet, and stunning desert coastline setting of this resort is the major draw. Its kids' club and large rooms make it a good choice for families as well, but partiers and beach bunnies may consider staying at a resort on the calm waters of Medano Beach, close to the hopping scene of downtown Cabo San Lucas.

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa

Hacienda Encantada Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Thoughtful traditional Mexican decor (through use of heavy wood and iron items) makes the Hacienda Encantada an impressive property. Rooms are large, clean, and well-decorated with comfortable carved-wood beds and stocked kitchenettes. However, the property is large, with steep hills, and those not fond of walking may be forced to ride golf carts to access pools, rooms, restaurants, or the lobby. As always, non-timeshare owners may find the aggressive sales pitches by staff irksome.

Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa

Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa Rating: 4.0 Pearls

All-inclusive Dreams Los Cabos Suites Golf Resort & Spa has the charm of a boutique hotel but the size and amenities of a luxury resort. Its Spanish-style architecture features high ceilings with wood beams, large archways, white marble flooring, and intricate moldings throughout. The palm-tree-lined infinity pool and several outdoor restaurants overlook the Pacific Ocean and the beach. Portofino, which offers Italian fare, showcases luxe white decor with opulent candelabras, and an authentic sushi bar has Japanese-style floor seating. Each bright and airy suite features kitchenettes and flat-screen TVs, while the bedrooms are outfitted with dreamy bedding and soft drapes. Families tend to enjoy the jungle-themed kids' club, while the lovely beach is a highlight for everyone.

Welk Resort Sirena Del Mar

Welk Resort Sirena Del Mar Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Welk Resort Sirena Del Mar is a picturesque cliff-side property overlooking the Sea of Cortez and the famous Los Arcos. The 36-villa resort is beautifully appointed with travertine stone floors, thatched palapa roofs, and two stunning infinity pools. Three private decks allow for sunbathing throughout the resort, and the intimate cove beach prevents outside guests and vendors from wandering the property. Each villa comes complete with a fully stocked kitchen, accented by granite countertops and stone floors; colorful furniture and artwork; and simple bedrooms with huge sliding doors that lead to private balconies. Each bathroom has a separate Jacuzzi tub and shower.
