Universal's Portofino Bay Hotel - A Loews Hotel

Universal's Portofino Bay Hotel - A Loews Hotel Rating: 4.5 Pearls

Modeled after the real Portofino Bay on the Italian Riviera, this 750-room Loews hotel has nightly singers in the piazza, five great Italian restaurants, and a waterslide that resembles a Roman aqueduct. It's the most expensive of Universal's three resorts, but that's because of its bigger, more beautiful rooms, gorgeous spa, and three pools, including two quieter ones for couples.
Universal's Royal Pacific Resort - A Loews Hotel

Universal's Royal Pacific Resort - A Loews Hotel Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Like all Universal resorts, the 1,000-room Royal Pacific has solid service, great dining, and modern, very comfortable rooms. While it lacks the spa of Portofino Bay (though guests have access to it) and the incredible waterslides at Hard Rock and Portofino, its more relaxing, Hawaiian style (including thrice-weekly luaus) and diverse dining options make it a very attractive hotel for the price.
Hard Rock Hotel At Universal Orlando Resort

Hard Rock Hotel At Universal Orlando Resort Rating: 4.0 Pearls

Like all Universal resorts, the 650-room Hard Rock has solid service, great dining, and modern, very comfortable rooms. While it lacks the spa and quieter ambience of the pricier Portofino Bay, its pools and facilities are equally impressive. Plus, its more modest, rock 'n' roll theme might better appeal to teens than Royal Pacific or Disney's cartoonish fun.
Doubletree Hotel At The Entrance To Universal Orlando

Doubletree Hotel At The Entrance To Universal Orlando Rating: 3.5 Pearls

Bright rooms (renovated in 2009) are the highlight at this otherwise unremarkable 742-room Doubletree across from Universal Studios. The courtyard pool is small; the service is bare bones; and Uno Pizza Express is the best on-site dining available. It's fine if all you want is a fresh, clean, and fairly inexpensive place to sleep -- and it has some decent business amenities -- but leisure travelers can do better elsewhere.
Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal Orlando

Holiday Inn & Suites Across from Universal Orlando Rating: 3.0 Pearls

The large, moderately priced Holiday Inn & Suites Across From Universal Orlando is an adequate and value-priced base of operations for families with theme parks on the agenda, who are not planning to spend much time in their hotel. Alternatively, guests may want to check out the similarly priced Cabana Bay Beach Resort on site at Universal, which offers retro style and tons of fun family activities, including a bowling alley.
