Oyster Review Summary

Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • Convenient location within walking distance of numerous sights
  • Funky, modern style throughout
  • Rooms have bright accents and flat-screen TVs
  • Some rooms have views of the Space Needle
  • Business center features a printer/scanner, white boards, a projection screen, and a coffeemaker
  • Free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel

Cons

  • Bathrooms are a tad small
  • On-site restaurant closes in the early afternoon

Bottom Line

This 58-room boutique prides itself on being a funky option in downtown Seattle. Upon entry, most can see that Hotel Five is not your traditional hotel: The small, mood-lit lobby features mod furniture in pops of red and yellow, and this bright look continues through the hallways (with vibrant accent walls and Seattle-centric elevator door motifs) to the rooms. The rooms have quirky but sleek modern decor with hardwood floors, bright red walls, and abstract art; some rooms even boast views of the Space Needle. However, bathrooms in most rooms are a tad cramped and have little counter space. The hotel does not offer many features -- although there is a fitness center and a restaurant that serves breakfast and lunch -- but the hotel's location makes it easy to visit shops, restaurants, and sights.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

Shopping, theater, restaurants, sightseeing -- it's all a quick walk away

Hotel Five is close to most of downtown Seattle's attractions. It's a 10-minute walk to the Washington State Convention Center, and is also within walking distance of theaters, great restaurants, and high-end shops such as Louis Vuitton and Gucci.

Guests can walk to musicals at the 5th Avenue Theater, arcade games at Gameworks for the kids, and shopping at Nordstrom and Pacific Place shopping center. Westlake Center is equally close, with its full-on food court and access to the Monorail, the iconic elevated train that whisks you over to the Seattle Center (home of the Space Needle) in a mere two minutes.

  • Sea-Tac International Airport is about a 20-minute drive south on I-5 (about $45 by taxi)
  • 8-minute walk to Pacific Place shopping center
  • 9-minute walk to Westlake Mall (with two-minute transit to Seattle Center, and Light Rail transit to Sea-Tac airport for $2.50)
  • 13-minute walk to the 5th Avenue Theater and Seattle Public Library
  • 14-minute walk to A.C.T. Theater
  • 14-minute walk to Pike Place Market, Seattle Art Museum, and ferries
  • 15-minute walk to The Washington State Convention Center
  • 16-minute walk to Benaroya Hall (Seattle Symphony)
