Bottom Line

The Monte Triana is a mid-range property located on a quiet street in Triana, a working-class neighborhood across the river from the city center. It features 114 clean, spacious rooms with contemporary decor in shades of beige and cream, as well as A/C units, minibars, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. There’s little in the way of amenities, just a restaurant serving a quality breakfast buffet, a small business center with two computers, and an underground parking lot. It’s a solid pick for value in a quiet part of town, but most sights are not within easy walking distance.

Monte Triana Hotel

Location

On a quiet street in Triana, a 20-minute walk from most major attractions

The Monte Triana is located in Triana neighborhood, a working-class area across the river from the historic center of Seville. There are very few attractions here -- just a couple of churches and pretty buildings -- but there are plenty of local restaurants and bars where visitors can experience real Andalusian cuisine without the crowds and prices of the Casco Antiguo. The part of Calle Betis closest to Triana Bridge has a wide array of traditional tapas spots and bars worth checking out as well.

Some parts of the neighborhood can feel a little run-down, but the area is generally safe and much quieter than the historic center of Seville. Walking to most major attractions will take between 15 and 25 minutes -- which is less than ideal in the summertime, as Seville summers are unbearably hot. There are buses available nearby, so guests should ask the front desk staff about their stops and schedule.

Seville has a wonderful historic and cultural heritage, and the best way to explore it is on foot. However, its narrow, winding streets can be difficult to navigate without a map, so make sure to get a map at front desk. There are beautiful churches, historic buildings, and charming nooks everywhere; even the simplest door may lead to a beautiful traditional patio with whitewashed walls and flower pots bursting with flowers.

  • 35-minute drive to Seville Airport
  • 15-minute walk to La Maestranza bullring
  • 21-minute walk to historic Torre del Oro and the Guadalquivir River banks
  • 22-minute walk to the Cathedral and its famous Giralda tower, built in the 14th-century and still in use
  • 23-minute walk to Archivo de Indias, containing millions of antique documents, including letters from Columbus (special permission needed)
  • 24-minute walk or 12-minute drive to Metropol Parasol, a wonderful marketplace with a great lookout point and Roman ruins
  • 25-minute walk to the Museum of Flamenco
  • 28-minute walk or 21-minute bus ride to Maria Luisa Park and Plaza de España historic square
  • 30-minute walk or 11-minute drive to Casa de Pilatos, a stunning 16th-century palace
  • 9-minute drive to La Cartuja, a new business area home to many corporate offices
  • 12-minute drive to Basilica de la Macarena, one of Seville’s most famous churches
  • 15-minute drive to Santa Justa train station, where high-speed trains stop
