Newark is a small residential town surrounded by the city of Fremont. It is part of Silicon Valley, but the vibe is somewhat different, with few corporate offices and only a couple of major industries, like Cargill Salt. However, and for this reason, it is one of the most family-friendly cities in the Valley, with a huge indoor waterpark, and over 15 parks and recreation areas.
The dining and entertainment scene is very limited, and most of it is centered on the NewPark Mall, a large regional shopping mall full of stores and restaurants. There’s little more than that, but there are some pretty houses, and it is a good base to explore the Coyote Hills Regional Park, located a couple of miles north.
Hotels close to the Dumbarton Bridge/Highway 84 have easy access to the main airports, San Francisco and the rest of Silicon Valley. Those who want to be a short drive from the Fremont attractions and nightlife will probably find the area closer to Highway 880 convenient.
