Oyster Review Summary

Photos and Review by Oyster.com Investigators

Pros

  • Quiet location outside of the downtown area (near major hospitals)
  • Sleek, spacious rooms filled with natural light from large windows
  • All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, and blonde wood
  • Club Rooms have larger bathrooms and access to outdoor infinity pool
  • Small fitness center on 8th floor with pool for all hotel guests
  • Upscale restaurant with good mix of Eastern and Western food
  • 24-hour room service

Cons

Bottom Line

The Oasia is an upscale hotel offering affordable rates, due to its location outside of the downtown area. Some people (especially those traveling on medical business) prefer this neighborhood for its close proximity to major hospitals. The 428 sleek, minimalist rooms are spacious and feature blonde wood, iPod docks, and big flat-screen TVs. Guests that upgrade to Club Rooms or suites will have larger bathrooms and access to the "Living Room" area that includes an outdoor infinity pool. Guests on the regular floors can use the pool by the eighth floor fitness center. While rooms feature nice touches such as electric kettles and espresso makers, there is a pesky fee for Wi-Fi.

Oyster Hotel Review

 Location

Centered around a hospital, about a 10-minute drive from several golf courses

Equidistant from an area full of golf courses and downtown Singapore, the Oasia Hotel is located near a large medical hub. This hotel is a popular choice nonetheless, especially among business travelers looking to save some money in comparison to staying in the downtown area. The Oasia Hotel is a 10-minute drive from lively Chinatown.

Bustling Chinatown is located on the south bank of the river and is one of the major tourist destinations in town. The neighborhood has a lot of historical and cultural significance, and many of its buildings and streets have been declared National Heritage Sites. Surprisingly, it's also known for a nightlife scene, which draws crowds on weekends. One of the main attractions here is the night markets, with dozens of food stalls and vendors selling everything from flowers to clothes.

Singapore is known to have heavy traffic at all times, so the following driving times are just for guidance.

  • 22-minute drive to Changi International Airport
  • 7-minute walk to the Tan Tock Seng Hospital
  • 8-minute drive to St. Andrew's Cathedral, or 26 minutes via public transportation
  • 9-minute drive to famous Raffle Hotel
  • 9-minute drive to downtown Singapore
  • 10-minute drive to nearby golf courses
  • 10-minute drive to the Esplanade Theater and Library, or 35 minutes via public transportation
  • 10-minute drive to the Parliament House, or 35 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to the National Museum of Singapore, or 30 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to Fort Canning Park
  • 11-minute drive to Chinatown, or 25 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to the Singapore International Convention & Exhibition Center, or 30 minutes via public transportation
  • 11-minute drive to the City Hall and the Padang
  • 12-minute drive to the Marina Bay area, or 13 minutes via public transportation
  • 12-minute drive to Esplanade Park
