In the Orchard Road area, near shopping centers and upscale restaurants
The Shangri-La is a 10-minute drive from both Downtown and Chinatown. Located on Orange Grove Road, the hotel is in the bustling Orchard Road area, known as the shopping and entertainment hub of the city. While the hotel is within walking distance of shops and restaurants, it is on a busy road, so most guests prefer to drive to nearby attractions. The hotel is also close to several golf courses.
Bustling Chinatown is located on the south bank of the river and is one of the major tourist destinations in town. The neighborhood has a lot of historical and cultural significance, and many of its buildings and streets have been declared National Heritage Sites. Surprisingly, it's also known for a nightlife scene, which draws crowds on weekends. One of the main attractions here is the night markets, with dozens of food stalls and vendors selling everything from flowers to clothes.
The Downtown area, right above Chinatown, is home to a number of high-end hotels, wonderful restaurants, corporate high-rises, and government buildings. It holds dozens of major attractions including the Esplanade Park, the Padang, and a few interesting museums, as well as a variety of public transport stops.
The 747-room Shangri-La, located near the Orchard Road neighborhood, is a glamorous option in Singapore. The hotel has three wings, providing accommodations of varying levels of luxury and prices. The Tower Wing offers the most basic (but still elegant) rooms, while the Garden Wing rooms are a step above, with private balconies, and the Valley Wing has suites with butler service. Across all categories, rooms are upscale, with big flat-screen TVs and marble bathrooms. All wings share the hotel's amenities, including six restaurants, a small spa, outdoor pool, fitness center, and tennis courts. While the hotel does offer free Wi-Fi, the location isn't within walking distance of major attractions.
