This quaint town in Sonoma County used to be an agricultural capital of the region. Now, it’s become a center for shopping, tourism, and wining and dining. Most wineries can be found on Westside Road or Dry Creek Road, and are accessible via biking, driving, or touring company’s charter vehicles. As for dining, Cyrus is one of the most famous eateries in town, and often is reserved two months in advance. Other notable restaurants include Charlie Palmer’s Dry Creek Kitchen, Madrona Manor, and Zin.

Healdsburg is the nexus of three of Sonoma County's important wine-growing regions -- Dry Creek Valley, Russian River Valley, and Alexander Valley -- which means that visitors are within easy driving distance of some truly excellent wine tasting. But it's an hour-long drive to the charming towns in Sonoma Valley or Napa Valley, so visitors looking to explore those better-known areas might find Healdsburg's location a bit inconvenient.

Most restaurants can be found around Healdsburg Plaza, between Piper Street and Westside Road. Likewise, much shopping can be found around Healdsburg Plaza, like Vineyard Palace Shopping Center. Sports enthusiasts and outdoor lovers may want to stay towards the south end of town along the river, where Rivers Edge Kayak and Canoe allows visitors to rent for day trips. For those that want to travel around the area, proximity to Highway 101 would probably be most convenient.
