The Pantages Hotel has a convenient location, within walking distance of many locations, and its amenities (including the upscale spa and the cool martini bar) are impressive. Rooms offer a decent amount of space and feature modern decor that is masculine, yet warm. Hardwood floors and area rugs create a homey vibe, but some of the furniture shows wear and tear. The hotel can be nice for those with extended stays (all but the standard Chic Suites have kitchenettes), but travelers looking for a cheaper price tag should consider the mid-range Bond Place Hotel a couple of blocks away, which has a similarly cool vibe, up-to-date rooms, and free internet in the lobby.
Near a hospital and Rice University, within walking distance to Toronto's "Times Square"
Located in the Queen's Park and the University District, Pantages Hotel is blocks away from the subway, the Financial District, and numerous tourist attractions in the nearby Entertainment District.
This area is home to one of Canada's top ranking schools, beautiful neo-Gothic buildings, and a tree-dotted park with monuments, footpaths, and benches. It's a lovely area to explore by foot, and offers easy access to the rest of the city via public transportation. Bustling pubs and diverse restaurants attract a young crowd, as well as those who work in the legislative buildings housed in the university campus.
Some parts of the neighborhood can feel a bit seedy at night, particularly around Allan Gardens (which is adjacent to the hotel), but the area is not as unsafe as it appears.
