Bottom Line

Built in 2006, this three-and-a-half pearl, chain hotel has 130 rooms and is located outside of Turin's center. Geared towards business travelers, there’s a business center, conference room, and meeting rooms on-site. There’s also a modern bar and restaurant open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving regional dishes and local wines. This is a typical chain hotel, so rooms are a little bland and lacking any Italian charm, but they are clean, modern, and have all the expected amenities. Room rates are lower than hotels nearer the city center, so this offers decent value for those who don’t mind traveling into the heart of Turin -- and there’s a Metro station right across the street.

Oyster Hotel Review

Holiday Inn Turin-Corso Francia

Scene

A smart and business-like vibe

The spacious lobby is light and bright. Polished cream floor tiles reflect the spotlights above, and the large, modern space is softened by numerous potted plants. There's a contemporary, dark wood reception desk and a seating area opposite with dark brown leather sofas. The same, smart color scheme continues throughout the public areas -- with cream and dark brown furnishings in the restaurant, bar, and corridors. There’s nothing particularly original or creative about the decor, but it’s all modern and spotlessly clean.

Location

Out of the historic center but across the street from Massaua Metro station

The hotel is located in the suburbs, around two kilometers west of Turin’s center. It’s a 20-minute drive from Turin Airport to here, and there’s underground car parking available for a daily fee. The location is well-suited to business travelers who have a car, as the Lingotto Conference Centre is a 23-minute drive away, as is the University of Turin where many conferences are held. Guests who want to get into the historic center of Turin can do so easily though -- the Massaua Metro station is directly opposite the hotel and the line gets there in around 15-minutes.

Rooms

Clean and forgettable

Guest rooms are almost stylish, but overall they're pretty forgettable, which can be a good thing. They have laminate flooring, a small flat-screen TV with satellite channels, bathrobe and slippers, safe, tea-and coffee-making facilities stashed in the closet, and a minibar. There’s contemporary, minimalist-style furniture like a glass-topped desk, and a plain, dark wood headboard. Rooms are a good size, and the Executive Room and Junior Suite are available for those who want more space and a separate sitting area. Bathrooms are clean and modern too, with walk-in showers, a white suite, and dark green marble floors with matching basin units. Most rooms overlook a quiet street or the parking lot.

Restaurant, bar, fitness center, and meeting rooms

The hotel's Fermata Venchi restaurant serves hearty regional and national cuisine, and an excellent buffet breakfast with a variety of American and Italian foods on offer. The modern bar is open until late and has many regional wines for guests to try. There's a small 24-hour fitness center with modern equipment, and an Internet point and printer in the lobby. Seven meeting rooms are available for functions, which can seat from 10 to 150 people. However, expect to pay for Wi-Fi, breakfast, and underground parking.
