Bottom Line

The Residence Sacchi has 40 apartment-style rooms with kitchenettes. Though it lacks facilities -- such as a restaurant, gym, or business center -- that many of its competitors have, the bright, comfortable rooms receive rave reviews for their size and features. It’s a 20-minute walk to the historical center of Turin, but the train going there is just across the street. Wi-Fi is free, as is parking, but it's limited.

Residence Sacchi

Scene

Historic building dating to early 19th century with more modern interiors

Residence Sacchi is housed in a historical building that dates to the beginning of the 19th century; the facade features corinthian columns, beautiful ornate detailing, and stone balconies. Once inside, guests fine that the hotel is more contemporary with large modern paintings and round hanging light fixtures about the reception desk. The hallways are a little bland and dated with red carpeting, and the square spiral stairs have very worn blue carpet. There's not much in the way of public spaces, but there is a pretty courtyard area with modern wicker seating under an inverted umbrella canopy.

Location

In a quiet area in the center of Turin, next to the railway station

Residence Sacchi is in a more quiet area of Turin, Italy. It's about a 20-minute walk to the historical center where travelers can visit the Royal Palace of Turin and the Egyptian Museum, which (after Cairo) has the largest collection of Egyptian antiquities in the world. Guests not wanting to walk can take the train from the station across the street. There are also several restaurants and shops in the nearby vicinity.

For guests with cars, note that free parking is available in the five spaces in front of the hotel, but if they're full, nearby garage parking costs a fee.

Rooms

Bright modern rooms with kitchens, flat-screen TVs, and homey touches

The 40 rooms available at Residence Sacchi are all uniquely decorated with bright furniture and mosaic-tiled kitchenettes that have fridges, microwaves, stovetops and dishware. Although the patterned bedding is dated, rooms have a nice mix of contemporary and classic furnishings -- think mod chairs, glass shelves, and wood flooring. The bathrooms are colorfully tiled in blue, teal, or red and have walk-in showers or bathtubs, some which are jetted. Each room has a small washing machine that's either by the kitchen or in the bathroom. Homey touches like flower vases, owl lamps, and vibrant prints by artist Walasse Ting are scattered throughout. All rooms have flat-screen TVs (some have as many as three) and air conditioners.

Features

Little to no amenities, but there's a 24-hour reception desk and pretty courtyard area

Being a resident-style hotel, the property lacks typical amenities like a restaurant/bar, spa, or gym. Guests can order breakfast room service, which will come from a nearby restaurant. There's also a laundry service and guests have noted that the staff manning the 24-hour reception desk is friendly and helpful. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel and travelers receive a welcome basket of coffee, toast, and jam. Children under 12 years old stay for free and cots/cribs are available upon request.
