Charming, family-run guesthouse
There is no sign at the iron gate signaling arrival at this charming guesthouse near Piazza San Marco. Guests pass through the gate and walk down a corridor to reach this elegant, traditional hotel with a small front desk beneath exposed wooden beams. The bar and breakfast room are on canal level and can be on the dark side. Locanda Orseolo is a short walk from the lively center of Venice, but offers a peaceful atmosphere.
Near Piazza San Marco
Locanda Orseolo is located in the heart of Venice, a short walk away from Piazza San Marco (St. Mark's Square), home to the Basilica and Doge’s Palace. By staying in the heart of the city, guests can easily explore on foot and will have no need to regularly use water transportation. The street entrance can be difficult to find the first time around, but a location set back from the street allows for a peaceful stay.
Traditional, elegant rooms with theatrical wall murals
The 12 rooms at Locanda Orseolo are decorated in a traditional Venetian fashion with glass chandeliers, long drapes, and gilded mirrors. The focal point of each room is a theatrical wall mural depicting characters from Venice's past. There are small flat-screen TVs, minibars, coffee/tea facilities, and free Wi-Fi in all rooms; some rooms have canal views but these do experience early morning noise.
A cozy breakfast room and bar
The character of this restored Venetian home is seen in its original wood beam ceilings and charming, curving windows. The helpful staff prepares a quality free breakfast each morning, including both a buffet and cooked-to-order items such as eggs or crepes. The breakfast room and bar are on canal level, overlooking gondolas floating by. Staff addresses guests by name and are helpful in recommending nearby restaurants and bars.
