Palazzo Odoni

The Palazzo Odoni is a boutique hotel situated in a three-story, 15th-century Gothic townhouse with a red-and-cream-colored brick facade featuring elegant ogive arched windows, cornice detailing, and a center balustrade balcony. Like many Venetian hotels, the Odoni has been converted from a residential building and thus has its limits -- for example, there are few common spaces and narrow stairways in lieu of elevators. The lobby and breakfast room, which extend directly into one another, feature period Venetian decor with elegant details and antique elements -- think large gilded frames, chandelier and sconce lighting, tasseled damask drapes, and rich wood doors. The look is both homey and charming, and while it can occasionally feel dated, it's less kitschy than what's found in many other Venice hotels. The breakfast room is charming, with elegant details, though it's small and can be packed in the morning. The hotel's small, rustic courtyard has a romantic feel, especially at night, with a lantern-lit staircase that leads down to the cobblestone area surrounded by greenery. Geared toward mid-range leisure travelers, the hotel has some rooms large enough for families. 

The canal-front Palazzo Odoni is located in the relatively quiet Santa Corce district of Venice, away from the hustle and bustle of the city's tourist center. Though this is a largely residential area, there are still plenty of hotels nearby, as well as restaurants and shops within easy walking distance. Palazzo Odoni is particularly convenient for travelers, as it's near the cruise terminal and just a six-minute walk from Piazzale Roma (the city's large parking lot) and an eight-minute walk from the train station (Venezia Santa Lucia). Some minor attractions are close by -- The Scuola Grande di San Rocco (a four-minute walk), Frari Church (a seven-minute walk), and the Ca' Rezzonico Museum (a nine-minute walk). But Venice is small, so even main tourist attractions are walkable, with St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge about 20 minutes away on foot. The nearest water taxi station is about a six-minute walk, and Marco Polo Airport can be reached in 45 minutes by water bus.

The Palazzo Odoni's eight rooms range in size from a Small Double to Suites that can accommodate three to five guests, including a ground-floor Family Suite featuring a room with a king bed and a whirlpool hot tub, plus a separate room with two twin beds. Rooms are individually decorated with period Venetian decor and feature rich details and antique furnishings like tasseled drapes, damask bedding, sconce lighting, hanging tapestries, rich velvet couches, and wooden armoires. Rooms are air-conditioned and include satellite TVs, minibars, and safes, though, like most Venetian hotels, they lack tea- and coffee-making facilities. Modern marble bathrooms include bidets and walk-in showers or shower/tub combos, plus free individual toiletries and hairdryers. 

The hotel has a charming breakfast room that doubles as a small bar in the evenings. The breakfast buffet is free, and features a selection of bread, pastries, meat, cheese, eggs, and fresh fruit, plus delicious homemade cappuccinos. Other features include 24-hour room service, laundry and dry cleaning, and luggage storage. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
