The West End is an affluent area in northwestern D.C., with Foggy Bottom to the south, Dupont Circle to the north, Downtown to the east, and Georgetown to the west (the neighborhood got its name before Georgetown was incorporated into the city of Washington, when it was indeed the West End). The West End underwent urban renewal in the 1970s, and is now home to some of the city's top luxury hotels and several foreign embassies. The neighborhood's southern border, K Street, is D.C.'s Central Business District, and is known as being a hub for lobbyists and other political influencers.
For easiest access to Dupont Circle's lively restaurant and bar scene, stay on the northern edge of the neighborhood, and for proximity to the offices on K St, stay on the southern edge.
