Although occupying an impressively modern example of glass and stone architecture, the entrance to the Jurys Inn Aberdeen is gloomy and unappealing. The ambience perks up a bit at check-in, with a row of four reception desks decked out in wood paneling and topped with interactive tablets. Opened in 2009, the hotel maintains a contemporary vibe throughout, even if the decor is a tad minimalist and reminiscent of an airport lounge in some places. Splashes of color and a few funky furnishings help to detract from the chain-hotel look, while otherwise stark hallways are jazzed up with patterned carpets. Numerous guests hunched over laptops in the lobby attest to the business-oriented nature of this hotel, though it's also popular with weekending couples and the occasional family.
Central, but unattractive, location next to main transport stations and shopping complex

While the location is super-central, the immediate area isn't particularly attractive and has lots of traffic. The more pleasant part of the city center, with its numerous bars, restaurants, and shops, is about five minutes away on foot. The neighboring retail complex means there's plenty of shopping opportunities on the hotel's doorstep, while the harbor and ferry terminals are a block away. The city's airport takes about 20 minutes to reach by car or taxi depending on traffic.

Wi-Fi is free in public areas of the hotel as well, and while there are four meeting rooms and an event staff to help with conferences, there is no on-site parking, fitness or spa facilities.
