Jupiter Algarve Hotel

Jupiter Algarve Hotel has an updated look thanks to a complete renovation in the winter of 2015. The lobby is pretty and fun with glossy floors, a white color scheme, and blue accents in round bean bag-like chairs, an underwater photograph behind the front desk, and an ocean-inspired ceiling piece. Nature-inspired pieces aren’t uncommon here. There’s an art exhibit with brightly-colored photographs of flora and fauna from the Portimao Museum. The hotel’s restaurant is sleek and modern and draws a good crowd each day with live music entertainment. The hotel mostly draws couples on vacation as there are few kid-friendly amenities. 

Jupiter Algarve Hotel sits on the promenade of Praia da Rocha. It takes a short two-minute walk on a bridge to get to the long sandy beach. The promenade location also means that the hotel is close to restaurants and bars -- most of which are within a five-minute walk away. It takes 23 minutes on foot to reach the Museum of Portimao. For those with a car, Praia de Benagil -- a 30-minute drive away -- is excellent for exploring the caves of Benagil Beach. It’s an hour’s drive to Faro Airport. 

Rooms here are fresh and bright, with a minimalist decor that includes a mostly white color scheme with gold or green accents. Rooms are outfitted with simple furniture with clean lines, wood laminate floors, trendy armchairs, and art pieces of floral or fauna. Amenities include air-conditioning, minibars, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, and safes (for a fee). Upper-level rooms have espresso makers, though kettles have to be rented for a fee. Some rooms have sea views and/or furnished balconies. Bathrooms are contemporary with cream color schemes. Hairdryers, free toiletries, and showers with waterfall showerheads or shower/tub combos are provided. Take note that there have been some complaints about bothersome noise in rooms on the lower floors. 

Jupiter Algarve Hotel has an excellent location right on Praia de Rocha. There’s also an outdoor pool open year-round, as it's heated and covered in the winter. A pricey deposit for pool towels is a little bit of a drawback, especially as towels are usually a given at most hotels. The spa provides an indoor hydro-dynamic pool, sauna, Turkish baths, and massages. Though it costs a fee, generally there’s a discount for guests. The 24-hour gym is spacious and includes cardio equipment, free weights, and exercise balls and mats. 

Each morning, a free hot breakfast buffet is offered in the restaurant. For lunch and dinner, the restaurant provides a la carte meals or buffets. 24-hour room service is available. There's a bar with live entertainment each day of the week, every day of the year. Half-board and full-board options are available. Business travelers can take advantage of four fully-equipped meeting rooms, a business center, and free Wi-Fi. Parking on-site in the underground garage costs a fee.
