Bottom Line

For travelers who cherish the beach, the Panorama is a great choice. It's near shops, cafes, and public transportation in the nearby village of Maiori and has a well-reputed yet affordable rooftop restaurant. There's also a pool and a private beach; note that guests are charged extra to use chairs and umbrellas. Some rooms are slightly dated, but every inch of the hotel is clean. Former guests have reported that it’s worth the money to upgrade to a room with a balcony and view.

Oyster Hotel Review

Hotel Panorama

Simple and bright beachfront hotel

The Panorama isn’t much to look at from the outside, as it dates back to the 1950s when the building was a lemon distillery used for making the area’s famed libation, limoncello. Much of the interior has been renovated, and has simple, solid-color décor. Some areas seem due for an update, but even these parts of the hotel are clean and the place has a beachy, breezy overall feel.

On the beach, with walking distance of town

Located in the middle of the Gulf of Salerno on the Amalfi Coast, halfway between Salerno and Amalfi, the Panorama is a few minutes' walk into Maiori, the coast’s largest town. It's situated directly on the beach and the sandy stretch in front of the hotel is reserved exclusively for guests (but it is just next door to a busy public beach).

Small and basic, but clean

There is nothing spectacular about the Panorama’s rooms, but those with balconies have gorgeous views of the Gulf of Salerno. There are also a few renovated apartments large enough to accommodate families. The beds are somewhat hard and the bathrooms are small and dated, but all rooms have flat-screen TVs. There's also free Wi-Fi throughout and everything is kept immaculately clean. Rooms in the lower part of the hotel are less noisy; rooms on higher levels are subject to noises from the restaurant, bar, and terrace.

Restaurant, private beach, rooftop terrace, pool, and sunroom it has; a spa and fitness center it does not

A fresh but repetitive breakfast buffet is served every morning and the on-site Ristorante Lo Sfusato serves creative, reasonably priced local fare for lunch and dinner. There's also a beautiful, large pool area with a bar and splash pool. The hotel's free Wi-Fi is accessible all the way out onto the private beach, but guests must pay to use lounge chairs and umbrellas. Hotel staff can arrange day trips, excursions, and restaurant reservations.
